  1. Thanks again guys....here is the latest... I found a docking station for my laptop so I now have a proper serial port. Tried that and still no luck. I tried both ALDL ports under the dash (one is connected, and the other is terminated with a cap). My question is, what baud rate do I need to set COM1 to for the serial port? It's set at 9600 Baud and I can't seem to change it so 8192 as it's not one of the available choices in the drop down list. Thanks for all your help again... Erik
  2. Hi Erik, the chipset is Profilic. I did add the registry key to set baud rate at 8192 as per instructions from your site, but still no luck. Perhaps I didn't add the key properly... Erik
  3. Thanks Guys.....it's a RS232 cable and I'm using a USB to RS232 converter on my laptop. I will try installing the drivers suggested by Bibs and report back...
  4. Thanks everyone for your insight! As Gary mentioned, it is running for 1-2 seconds, then paused for a few seconds, then run for 1-2 seconds again. It repeats this cycle as long as the car is running. Would that be normal operation? Erik
  5. Hi Simon....I haven't tried to disconnect it yet. There is one hose going back to the engine compartment and a wire to get power. I'm guessing it's emission equipment that's only available on USA cars...
  6. Hi just need some ideas on getting connection though the ALDL cable. I tried different laptops (with RS232 and USB) and different programs (Freescan and Espritmon) but still couldn't establish connection to get data from the car (94 Esprit S4). Could the cable itself be defective? Is there any one in the GTA (Toronto) who has a working cable and freescan that I can come by and read my codes? Thanks in advance
  7. Hi all, need help identifying a part in a 1994 Esprit S4. It's located on top of the battery enclosed in a foam box. See attached picture. It's making some weird noise (some motor noise) constantly. It has part number 003 953 08 and GM and Hella logo on it. Thanks in advance! Erik

  9. Thanks everyone for the info! I'm located in Canada so would most likely ordering from the US. Happy Easter!
  10. Hi all, looking for these 2 parts for my 94 S4......ALDL Cable and Charge Cooler Impellor. Anyone have these lying around the garage? Will make reasonable for them. Let me know, Erik
  11. Thanks Carl! Can you point me to the article in LEW that describes the flushing procedure of the C/C system? Erik
  12. Hi Experts, quick question.... On S4's (not S4S) produced prior to Dec 93 there are separate cooling systems for the engine and for the chargecooler. The service Lotus notes only described procedure on draining and refilling the engine cooling system, but there were no instructions on how to drain and refill the "separate" chargecooler system. What is the procedure of draining and refilling the chargecooler system? Thanks in advance! Erik
  13. I was trying to replace the OEM steering wheel with a momo one on my 94 S4. Ordered all the needed parts but one thing is missing....the metal horn ring that makes contact with the horn pin inside the steering column. Apparently I was told that Lotus does not sell this ring separately. For those who have replaced the steering wheel, how did you find the correct horn ring? Attached is picture showing what it looks like, it's no. 10 in the picture. Regards, Erik
  14. hi...can someone provide some tricks or hints on how to remove the OEM shift knob on a 94 S4? The service manual doesn't much other than saying that it is "pressed fit." Thanks, Erik
