  1. Very sad those days are gone now with the new F1 rules about pit ladies and dress code, same goes for those race car drivers, heroes of a by gone era sadly never to be seen again 😪
  2. Great work Darren, I would lock those cylinder liners down also chap to be on the safe side unless you are planning on resealing the liners ?
  3. As Angus said, attach electrical cable going onto the new handbrake cable 2 or 3 inches and use electrical tape all the way up the join about 4 inches, should pull through ok
  4. You could even clear coat the track rod ends Wayne to stop them going rusty, also paint a little on the exsposed nuts and bolts ..... Suspension looks awesome all painted up
  5. Happy birthday Mr Kimbers senior
  6. Please tell me that mug has a Lotus badge on the other side
  7. How crazy to rebrand as vw has done for an electric car, Cant see why they do not just do what Toyota do on their hybrid cars and make the background on the badge behind the emblem blue in colour ! As for the Lotus badge redesign, I like the new design and feel it will look great on the new Hypercar, same badge really as the very early esprit cars. I think the current lotus badge still suits the Evora/Elise better though, but will have to see the new one on a car first to decide I am chuffed to bits with the way lotus is going and so pleased with the new Evija design, it is a gorgeous design, i truly hope they develop a unique design and re launch the Esprit and use the same design team, The 2010 Esprit design under the Danny Bahar was way to Lambo looking for me and gave no credit design wise to represent the iconic design of Lotus,s flagship old model. Having said that, The Detomasso pantera relauch on the Lambo Hurrican chassis and drivetrain by Danny Bahar looks stunning and they even managed to get pop up headlights on it !
  8. Some good catches there when the back end steps out lol Cheers for the vid
  9. I think he means the actual body itself Dave, The used ones used to go for circa 150 sterling plus secondhand as no one makes new ones, Now they are drying up as are the used spares etc, One of the folks on here was 3d printing the black trim that goes around the glass, maybe someone could look into seeing how much a run of printed mirror stalks would be. If the mirror is broken and just cracked, if folks are worried about stripping it and breaking the actual housing, i would suggest the plastic mirror sheet from a car parts supplier, just cut it carefully so it looks tidy and bond straight onto the old mirror. Job done !
  10. Fabian, engine bay looks stunning, but as John said, some decent aero quip connections would be better to stem the risk of a fire, a fire system will not always put out the fire sadly from what i have heard ! Not sure what the brass slip on connections are like on the FPR, can they be removed and replaced with male to female unions to fit aero quip connections ?
  11. Hard one for me to say as i do not reside in the UK anymore, but the normal police over here in Japan are armed and gun crime is pretty low, a few months ago some nut ran up to a small police station and managed to pull a police officers pistol from his holster, and shoot the police officer. But i do not want the UK to end up like America, plus the fact that firearms require lots of training to use properly and lots of operational experiance to know when and when not to pull the trigger, I remember watching a British police firearms training session for potential recruits on tv, luckily using paint ball guns, one demo was a crazy farmer, armed with a double barrel shotgun. He fired one shot in the air , they issue a warning, he fires another shot in the air, then one of the police officers shoots him ! On the debrief the chief firearms officers says to the shooter officer " its a double barrel shotgun, he fired two shots, the weapon is empty ans then you decided to shoot him " Plus many other senarios in the training had shocking blue on blue etc. Knife crime needs to be looked into, longer prison sentances need handing out to deter them, even a sentance for just carrying one should be issued imo. In the early days in N.I we used to go under the rules of the red and yellow cards, this made you think twice about putting a round down the spout or anything outside those rules, you would be in serious trouble. Guns, never for normal duty officers, well trained firearms teams yes, Tazers only for a few standard officers, you can still do pretty well with pepper spray imo.
  12. That is what you get for adding in way to much lightness , they overdid Mr Chapmans ethos on the top strut mounts , Someone just post up a picture of a burning porsche, i would of expected Barry to by now lol !
  13. Chassis and engine bay look stunning Fabian, will be a shame to get it dirty ! Do not worry you will soon be Mr Bond, Will keep my fingers crossed for you it snows in the winter months in Blighty, so you properly look the part lol. Keep up the great work, keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you also on the engine start chap.
  14. The way i look at it C43, The o.e.m have the metal outer sleeve, fused rubber sticking to that and then the internal steel liner. The split bushes are missing the outer sleeve, are easier to fit, I think for such things poly bushes are ok for rack mounts etc, but for wishbones etc, i would rahter steer clear, I personally would say it was a no brainer, but if you can get someone to do an actual experiment, i think that would be fab and would love to see or just even hear about the date. We are all split into different camps when it comes to rebuilding these cars, even more so regarding modern aftermarket parts alternatives, some love the poly bushes, some will not touch them. Exactly the same with the camp protech, camp avo etc. I say ditch the bushes, build custom top arms and fit rose joints lol
  15. The Lotus OEM are a pain in the backside to push in, like most OEM bushes on other brand cars, but for a reason as it means they are stiff when fitted, a split poly bush is easy to push in as it is two bits, they will just not bite into the suspension like the standard ones, maybe for a few miles but after that they will loosen up, in fact giving the same feeling as worn/perished oem ones imo. I personally would stick to the Lotus ones, the suspension set up on the Esprit is what makes the car, going away from this is not a good idea imo.
  16. It could be the best car in the world but sadly it just lacks soul, looks like a soap box with a ricer rear wing to me imo. Now if they had the new Singer classic 911 on the front cover saying those words then i would agree 100 percent, not with the 3 million sterling price tag though
  17. Sorry to see you are parting with her Alec, hope someone on here bags it or you get a decent price on ebay, good luck either way chap
  18. Still looks very nice though, Just shows how fantastic and iconic the black and gold livery is though, does not rub me up the wrong way at all, in fact makes me very proud that someone sticks this on such an expensive and truly unique bit of engineering history in itself I love the JPS colour scheme, and it goes on almost any vehicle and looks good, even motorcycles ! i love the gulf colour scheme also, sadly it only suits a few motors such as gt40s and the old lemans porkers etc.
  19. Yes sadly it does compromise the seam sadly ! Such a shame as i think the waistband trim makes the G cars look so iconic ! If it was done properly it would of been glassed from behind the panel to add strength, but not many cars had that done when owners decided to delete the seam, they just grind them off sadly You can repair it by screwing or glueing flexible plastic strip along the seam, to which you just then cover with the black lotus trim, however as you say the risk of panel slpit/crack between upper and lower sections is still there sadly.
  20. Looks like a really nice car, interior looks super tidy from the pics, shame about the later s3 bumpers been fitted, but easily changed, not sure what is going on with the waistband trim though is it colour coded or has it been deleted ? hard to tell from the pics sadly
  21. Always will remember him from Blade runner, it was an iconic film and he also got to play an iconic role, the dove scene is very moving. He was also in Batman begins as the stuck up board chairman who fires Morgan freeman, and also in Sin City as the crazy bishop/priest RIP
  22. Welcome to TLF Great choice with the S2 , rolling restorations are always much better than a project in boxes lol
  23. Bad news Darren, that sounds pants, never used the AVO on the rear of an esprit, always used protech on all four corners of my S3, but did get an Avo set up from Lotusbits for front of the s2 project car which i was using a stevens chassis and suspension for it so all a bit mis match lol Gutted for you regarding the mount not fitting, Surely Mike at Lotusbits will sort this out and steer you in the right direction, he is normally pretty good at that, rather than machine one up yourself ?
  24. Hope someone saves it, will make a nice restoration project for someone, parts alone would be still worth a small fortune, let alone a full car will docs
  25. Does the spring fit ok in the rubber top mount ? If so just delete the metal bit, just fit the shock, spring and rubber top mount
