Early S3 front indicators

How do they fix into the bumper anyone? 

Locating lugs obviously go into the holes in the bumper, but are they bolted through or riveted in or otherwise fixed somehow?

if they're through-bolts, then the indicator housing has to be built into the bumper before fitting said bumper?

Self tapers into the body unless someone has cut away the bodywork where the holes should be.

Yes, I agree with @peteyg. Self tappers are the way to go. If you go with bolts, as you say, you have to do everything before fitting the bumper, and if there's a problem down the line you have to dismantle the bumper just to get at the indicator housing.

I don't like self tappers in thin GRP, I would use threaded insert instead or at least spire clips.

Does anyone know what size bolts go either side to fix the lens on the housing? 

Seems close to M4 but looks like it's not a metric size.
