  1. Yes, it was you guys! I'm pretty sure we've met at the Departure Lounge car meet a few years ago. Pete
  2. With a hot engine, slowly press the accelerator pedal down whilst cranking. Don't prime beforehand. Pete
  3. Ice blue S3 Esprit and black Excel. I was in the wife's Discovery beeping and waiving at you from the junction. Pete
  4. 3 self tappers at the back by choke cable/window switch trim. Nothing at the radio end as far as I know though I have air vents below the radio on mine. Pete
  5. I'm using the Protechs. Had a couple fail and fixed under warranty but I'm happy with them in the main.
  6. Always bought my springs from SJ. Never had a problem as long as the suspension is tightened up with the car correctly weighted as per the manual. Pete
  7. @Veloce_Rosso Azzurro Gabbiano - great colour!!
  8. Did they use the hedge trimmer to remove the steering wheel?
  9. Best I can do with the engine in the way but hopefully you can trace the braided line from the carb into the cut off switch then Flexi hose to the filter which goes into the metal pipe that follows the outline of the engine bay and does a 90 degree turn downwards to the fuel pump.
  10. HI Derek, I have limited pics of the setup but here's one of the fuel pump which is located behind the passenger seat. The lower pipe is the link between the tanks, the longer part of which hangs in the cradle before attaching to the right hand tank. I have my engine cover off at the moment so if you still need I can get some pics of the pipework in and around the engine bay. Pete
  11. Hi all, In the process of replacing the gearbox mount bushes I've discovered something I want to check is as it should be. It makes sense but don't know it it's correct or a bodge The bottom bush has had a section cut away and the bracket is also chamfered at this point which is clearly done in order to avoid fouling the top bolt on the bracket that supports the brake callipers. Can anyone confirm this is as it should be before I get the angle grinder out as the new bush does not have the cutaway. Thanks, Pete
  12. @CarBuff makes perfect sense though I've not noticed any ill effects personally. Maybe it's not dusty enough here in the UK and we tend to drive around with the windows closed because it so cold and wet all the time 🤣 Pete
  13. Make sure you shim it to work when the door is closed. On mine the glass doesn't follow the channel when the door is open but the frame is at the correct angle when the door is closed. Silicon spray on the felt makes for an easier glide on mine and silicone grease on the runners.
  14. I had this very problem when I installed new adjustable Protechs on my S2 years ago. Took it to a Lotus 'Specialist' who it turns out didn't have a clue about older cars and it came back with the rear wheels like this / \ . Turns out the springs needed cranking up way more than they had been which pulled the bottom of the wheels inwards and created the correct camber. Nothing more complicated than that. Worth a try before you start messing about with shims etc. Pete
  15. Thursday afternoon 19th October Sounded brilliant but looked tiny in comparison to the rest of the traffic. Lovely so see one in the wild!
  16. The old girl just after we'd passed our 100k miles milestone.
  17. Isn't the 74deg thermostat a bit low for Wiltshire? Have you tried the standard thermostat? Pete
  18. Can't remember the spec off the top of my head but the inlet and exhaust clearances are different. I made the mistake of setting them all the same then had to take it all apart and redo it. D'oh!
  19. Identical spec to my S2, at least when it was original. Interestingly they've done the same to your seats as mine which were leather on the build sheet but replaced with cloth at some point. Pete
  20. I'm no expert but I didn't think there was ever a paper gasket for the cam carriers. The point of the thinly applied anaerobic sealant was to negate the affect of affecting shim size. Happy to be proved wrong. Pete
  21. There's been sporadic talk about getting the S2 mirrors 3D printed but I haven't seen any results yet. You'd need to fit a modern motor. I've seen them fitted to 2 other cars: Aston Martin Vantage & Reliant Scimitar GTC which doesn't help much with volume sales...
