Oil catch tank

After looking at the throttle body I noticed way too much oily deposits because of the oil vapour vent hose plugged just before and wanted to install some oil catch tank system

On the exige v6 cup r there is as standard a Mocal oil catch tank with breather cap

Radium makes some double oil catch tank that is not vented and recirculates to the standard connections for the evora but it should fit also on the exige v6 with small modifications

Anyone is running some kind of oil catch tank and could post pictures or how did they connected it?

Also could be interesting to see if there is oil and dirt differences depending on what air filter kit is used on the throttle body so you could maybe had a look and post pictures

SSC do one that drains directly back into their baffled sump, which seems like quite a good solution. Would be interested to here thoughts on that.

For a street car that needs to pass  Governmental emission testing, a catch can setup that is not vented to the atmosphere would be advisable.  Most, but not all, vapors will be captured.

For a dedicated track car, a catch can vented to the atmosphere is the way to go. We added that setup with a drain back to the sump in my 2-Eleven.

The factory installed Mocal catch can in the CupR does not drain back to the original oil pan.  But, now that I have installed the Moroso sump with "bungs" available for a hose attachment, that may be the next project.

Appears to be vented to the atmosphere and drains directly back into the Moroso baffled sump that they also sell:

This seems like a good set up to me.  Do you think it would work well for a road/trackday car?

Very expensive if you need to buy the sump also.

Me personally, I'd fit a Mocal type catch can that collects the oil which you have to empty manually and not feed it back into the intake.

Matthew,  It looks to be good. 

The only issue for a street car with this type of setup is that some oil vapor/odor will be present in the engine bay;  and as SSC states ---

• With crankcase gasses breathing to atmosphere, some oil may condense at the top filter and run down the side of the can.

Is that not a potential fire risk?!

Hasn't proven to be for me over the last 9 years of tracking and racing the 2-Eleven with that setup.

I installed this one in the circuit where the pcv is, which is the problematic one in the 4xx engines
