Exige V6 Air Intake System

Recommended Posts

I've just pre-ordered one also - sounds like a good investment - just hope I don't run in the problems at the track.

I just hope I can understand the fitting 🙂

Thanks Tony, why do you think you may run into problems on track?

The system has been predominately tested on track for performance, reliability, and noise test. You shouldn’t have a problem.

Tracks are getting more and more limited - I had HUGE issues with my (modified) VX220 with induction noise on track, my S2 Exige with Larini exhaust caused me few black flags (not for driving standards I might add) which is why I have kept my V6 standard.  I fear any change 🙂

I would also love a new exhaust that sounds like the Ex380 / Ev400 but that's just asking for trouble !

You will be fine with induction noise and it’s not louder than even stock exhaust.

Exhaust. Go 2bular track system with add on silencers and you should be good for almost any track in uk 👍

We have tested at Castle Combe which is quite strict as well as Donington and no noise issues to report bud - you should be all good :)

Scroll down the homepage on alias23.com (screen shot below) and you’ll see the video of the Combe noise test ;)

I'm sorry but I can't part with my money in that direction.  They might be magnificent pieces of art (well, until they were outsourced) but the mud slinging and behaviour I've read/seen I can't support that.

Sounds good! I look forward to attempting to fit it 🧐

I feel you may be misinformed but I don’t want to open a can of worms and especially don’t want to deviate from topic of thread so il just say in my opinion it would be your loss to not choose a 2bular exhaust

I think Back on Track have fitted a few of the kits now so may be an option if you wanted a professional instal.

Certainly a shame that I'm not a bit nearer also as I'd be very interested in anything you could develop for the Evora S.

Maybe a post in the Evora section of the forums to gauge interest and see if anyone is near to you to help out with the sizing?

I fitted my alias23 intake 2-weeks ago - v impressed! Noise is better and the car feels more eager... standard system seems too protracted vs Imran’s ‘Straight thru pipe’ design... a really good upgrade imo.

@alias23 any plans for another batch?

To be honest still working through the pre orders... may have a few spare in December but to be honest talking may be one or two as I generally make them in batches.

Alias23 is more a community/owner based thing vs a full blown 24/7/365 operating business so I try to do as much as I can whilst balancing life haha but ping me on imran@alias23.com and I can ping you if I find I have spares :)

Waiting on mine to arrive, can not wait to get it on along with my full 2bular system 😎

Hi Elliott - Just picking up on the 'full' 2bular system. Do you mean full end to end system replacing headers, cats, exhaust etc? If so be aware the ECU will not be able to adapt to both a change of intake and headers without some ECU remap work I'm afraid.

I see this statement popping up several times... Strange as I did the exact same thing (even running 100 cell cat and not the 200-cell) without any issue, short term and long term fuel trims are top notch, AFR's are rich as ever... 🙄 without any ECU change.

DixieV6 is even running without cats, again on stock map, with headers & CAI.

I had lots of discussions on this topic when doing my 2bular exhaust with KT intake. General consensus appeared to be that it was actually possible although pushing the boundaries of what the standard ECU map could cope with. My car did at least start with the exhaust and intake fitted, although I never actually ran it like that, plus I already had a mild tune from the KT EX370 kit.

In the end I decided to go for the ECUMaster Black ECU anyway, to take full advantage of the new hardware. That’s given me over 350hp at the wheels, which feels great!

Thanks Matt, indeed a standalone ECU is the perfect way forward. However, I think the statement on 'pushing the boundaries' with just another intake and other headers is somewhat biased by the aftermarket Lotus 'ECU industry'... Not saying I'm the specialist, but all indicators are in the green (spark advance, afr, ltft, stft, etc.), and there is no reason they shouldn't be. It is the tunes of the aftermarket tuners that change the game by leaning out the mixture and change spark timing.  On AFR for instance, we are still running 10.5:1 at WOT with 'these modifications' on the stock map. Did you ever see an aftermarket tune's AFRs? I promise you they run leaner than what the stock map is doing.

Not starting a debate, just an observation... I know at least one Exige running headers, NO cats, full CAI on stock map that is being pushed *hard* for more than 2 years now without any issues (and it's not mine, I do still have a cat😀

Been running 4 years now without cat , larini manifolds and self made intake same as Alias 23 but with honeycomb before the MAF to smooth out air turbulence, I also mounted the AEM air fuel gauge (a must for me ) and air fuel is perfect...I don't understand why most people don't install an A/F gauge ,you can always see what's going on , I have 3 cars and in every car I have an A/F gauge....

I am categorically NOT an expert, just relaying the information I received from multiple sources and setting out the approach I took in case it helps.

If you guys are running that hardware on the standard ECU with no issues, then that is great news!

I do have all the data from my ECUMaster tune if needed. RRR did the mapping and can provide it. I made sure they didn’t run it super lean. I only really went for the new ECU to maximise the potential of my new hardware and to prepare a good base for further mods. If you’re not planning to go any further, then in my opinion it would be better to retain the standard ECU if possible (and it sounds like it is indeed possible).

Oh yeah 😎 Alias23 induction fitted, ran in, sounds awesome, now have to buy the rear louver cover to hide the massive hole the existing air box left :D

Weirdly I now have three lights that come up consecutively like a rev thingy, then sometimes flash all at once for a second (all three) then drop off, didnt do this before. Looks cool though.

I have a query... the relocation of the solenoid (see pic) I noticed it got really hot - as in couldnt touch it. Is this normal? BTW ignore how dirty my engine bay looks, I didnt even know it could get like that until I removed all the guff around it.

Thanks @alias23 for a super service.
