Event: Copthorne Prep Charity Motor Show
Location: Copthorne Prep School, RH10 (off Effingham Lane)
When: 3rd Oct 2021
Time: From 10am if attending directly at the school. To join planned convoys please arrive at selected hotel (tbc) between 10-10:30. Convoys will start arriving at the school field from 11:00am. Event finishes at 4pm.
Charities: Friends of Copthorne / Whizz Kidz / Crawley Open House
Special Guest: BBCs "The Stig" from Top Gear.
Entry Fee: Free for drivers of display cars but since its a charity event would appreciate donations. Plus 1s @ £5pp.

Marques attending: Aston Martin / Lamborghini / Porsche / Lotus / Ferrari / BMW / Corvette / GT40 / Bentley / Jaguar / Superformance (Cobra/GT40 replicas)
Marques pending: McLaren / Lexus (LC) / Audi (R8/e-Tron RS) / AMG / Alfa Romeo (4C/8C/classics) / other specialist marques

Field can likely accommodate around 200 cars so hoping some of the clubs can thus bring around 15-20 cars each and a few individuals/dealers besides (eg Jardin AM will bring a few cars – including a Vantage F1 edition).

Display inside school grounds will be private event for School pupils and their families but we are looking to encourage clubs to make some convoys and route past a couple of the local pubs so that the public / pupils etc can enjoy seeing and hearing the machines before entering the school field.

Pubs to pass as part of convoy route: Duke's Head / Curious Pig in the Parlour / The Old House Inn. Map/proposed routing to follow.

Convoy gathering locations: Copthorne Gatwick Hotel and/or Copthorne Effingham Hotel.

During the display time at the school we are working on food and refreshments and also some entertainment (RC Car club to race model supercars in the school hall/possibly some of the GB Hockey Team to open the new Astroturf/live music).

We are also currently discussing ideas for how kids can participate - some voting events for 'best in class' / 'best overall' / most original etc and also a design a car competition which can be judged by a selected group tbc though should include "The Stig".

Work in progress:
- Invitation to Ngenco (PPS supplier) to attend with a couple of cars and thus also get to promote their product.
- Invitation to Caterham as their HQ nearby and chance to promote their Caterham academy. Perhaps something club members attending could be interested in.
- Invitation to Team-Sport Crawley to display a stand for their karting business.

Raffles / Silent auctions etc.

Owners (perhaps +1s) can remain on site during the show to answer questions etc and make the afternoon fun for all attending / have a photo taken with "The Stig" (with charitable donation of course).

After the show clubs might then want to look at an early dinner in one of the pubs mentioned above to finish off the days 'fun-run /show'. Please let me know so we can put club and pub together to arrange.

Hi all Lotus owners

Quick intro. Im an Aston Martin V12 Vantage owner, almost a Lotus Elise Heritage Ed owner prior to that and sorely tempted by the new Emira. Personally, I think future is looking v exciting for Lotus.

I have been exchanging messages with Bibs since June regarding a Charity Car show I am helping produce for Copthorne Prep School but I know he's super busy so posting this here to help restart the ball rolling. We are looking for perhaps 15-20 Lotus cars to be one of the main attendees at the show to accompany Astons/Lambos/Ferraris/Corvettes/Morgans plus many others to fill the school field with around 180-200 cars. First come / first served policy and then waiting list. Entrance is STRICTLY by pre-registration due to space. We have over 70 cars signed up across the various marques so far so best to register asap as getting around 2-3 a day now. register.copthornemotorshow@gmail.com - there are further details below as to what to submit with the registration.

Driver entry is free but appreciate any charitable donations on entry. Any plus1s are £5pp also payable on entry. So if the weather is shocking and the event is cancelled last minute you lose nothing.

Flyer attached and details as follows (feel free to contact me any questions):

---

Event: Copthorne Prep Charity Car Show
Location: Copthorne Prep School Cricket pitch/extended field, RH10 (off Effingham Lane)
When: 3rd Oct 2021

Charities: Friends of Copthorne / Copthorne Open House / Whizz Kids
Special Guest: BBCs "The Stig" from Top Gear.
Cost: Drivers of display cars have free entry (though since a charitable event donations (£5+) would be much appreciated). Plus1s welcome @ £5pp. Payment likely to be on entry - cash preferable but working on a contactless system for the day and also a pre-pay service if anyone wishes to donate/pay upfront.

The event hopes to host around 200 high end sports cars, exotics and classics all on the main school field with the purpose of giving the pupils and parents of the school a great afternoon out, giving club members the chance to meet up with fellow members and those from other clubs, giving some local businesses the chance to show/advertise their products and lastly but most importantly help generate funds for our 3 nominated charities.

Marques attending: Aston Martin / Lamborghini / Porsche / Lotus / Ferrari / GT40 / Bentley / Jaguar / Corvette / Merc-Benz(AMG) / Superformance / Morgan
Marques pending: McLaren / Lexus (LC) / Audi (R8/e-Tron RS) / Alfa / TVR / others

Dealers attending so far: Jardin Sevenoaks Aston Martin / Vines BMW / Harwoods Bentley / Harwoods Jaguar / Le Mans Coupes (who provided some of the cars for the Le Mans 66 film)

TEAM-SPORT Karting – advertising their Crawley branch / tutoring for over 8s and other events.
CATERHAM – advertising their academy via their Crawley branch.

More details will be provided in due course.

@yentl

Hi, here is some info:

Whizz Kids - https://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/

Copthorne Open House - https://www.crawleyopenhouse.co.uk/
We were hoping to get Romesh along for the show as he Patron but sadly too busy a schedule.

Friends of Copthorne - this is the charity supporting the school itself, raising funds for extra events for kids/parents to enjoy throughout the year.

Feel free to give me a buzz if anything further needed.

Thanks
Gav

From @GJ77

It is with great disappointment I have to announce that our event is being postponed.

The School Committee have informed me that the show must be postponed into 2022 citing the following;

  • Serious inclement weather concerns for Fri/Sat in Copthorne area (over 2cm rain forecast Saturday).
  • Weather for Sunday itself also looks like 60-80% chance of rain during the running time of the show.
  • Fuel shortages which continue to plague the area.

My sincerest apologies.

Personally I am absolutely gutted and I know the school/kids/parents will be feeling much the same reading the newsletter tonight.

We managed to get over 100 cars registered representing 20 car brands, worth many millions, along with dealerships, vendors, an up and coming musician and the STIG for an unknown school event all within last 5months and that hard work must not go to waste.

Thus we will now start work on the rescheduled show with a view to host Spring 2022.

Your assistance (together with Toms) has been sincerely appreciated and hopefully we can work together in the coming months to ensure a good Lotus presence in 2022.

Apologies once again on behalf of the Copthorne Prep Car Show Team
