Bellhousing replacement

I’ve found a picture of what looks like the pre98 Bellhousing. The mount for the pivot is identical to that of the iron one shown. So I think I’ll just drill the hole out and file the tab off one side to emulate the earlier housing.

Managed to complete my iron to post 98 ali Bell housing upgrade.

the photo shows the difference between the early V8 fork and ball type pivot compared to the later version with its cylindrical pivot. Also worth a mention is that while the early type fork is removable from its round pivot, the post 98 version is held by it's cylindrical pivot and cannot be removed without separating the Bell housing from the transaxle to access the securing allen bolt.

Steve I just finished up doing this the other night. I almost drilled out the aluminum housing and placed the cast iron pivot into it but ordered the correct pivot and fork in the end. I'm still curious if it would have worked in the long run 😂

It may have worked @Thartje the pivot position into the new Bell housing would need to be precise. I prefer the later version, no chance of this fork junping off its pivot and falling into the clutch.

Do you think the older style slave and bracket assembly will work with the newer type fork?? Still debating which way to go

So it does work.

I enlarged the hole and installed the original pivot from the cast iron bellhousing. I've use the same clutch bracket and slave and it all works just fine.
