LEF Summer Ball 2008

I'm toying with the idea of an LEF Summer Ball next year.

Something along the lines of excellent dinner, live entertainment and music, charity auction and other such ball-like activities. To stage something like this for perhaps a couple of hundred people is very expensive and I'd like to know if it's a viable option before I start to make more serious enquiries.

Another thought with the casino, and the cars 'n stuff is that this may be the LEF 'Bond Bash 2008' with a Bond theme. Perhaps Roger Becker would like to come along and I'll see if Roger Moore is available! :no

Food is not as important as the entertainment for me. Dont think I could manage more than 3 course (all though i ahve just eated a whole tub of cartedor ice cream  )

Great idea though - like the casino idea, be a good time to actually get kimbers to sit at a table instead of dodging us all the time :yes

Would it also mean I would have to buy a shirt and shoes ?

Like the whole idea and so will Margaret - may actually get her to a LEF event.

I would vote for a venue where staying is an option. Idealy where take over the entire Hotel and don't have to be too noise contious for other residents.

I organised an event (two nighter) First night Black tie, Second night themed fancy dress, good food and disco one night and band the other for the all inclusive price of

erm if you really want something special then i could have a word with grandpaps and see if he can speak to the owners of this lovely place :thumbsup:http://www.gliffaeshotel.com its only 8 miles up the road and its bloody gorgeous and close to the beacons so the roads are perfect for a great hoon and so many places to get pictures.

the estates in that area are owned by the legge-burke family, sothey are some of the very best around that area.

dads side of the family have a few friends who have some very nice hotels in old mansions that we may be able to use for a weekend if need be, then its just sorting out numbers and prices, i can get some info if you like bibs?

spoke with father, we could try these three, they are very very good hotels set in grade listed buildings, they will do block book discounts and the service is second to none.

there is also.

and they have a hotel in france if we fancied a french weekender

the third one is the very best, the standards are very high there and the setting is perfect also.

I agree as long as we all have a nice secure place for all our Loti and lots of hooning there!

Instead of a fun Casino hows about a professional dealer and a game of poker (for those that want to obviously)

What are you agreeing to? I would imagine that one of the criteria to where we have it would be secure parking oddly enough and it won't be in Norfolk so you'll be hooning for sure!

Erm, and as I was a croupier for 7 years does that qualify me as a professional? Also, to rebuff the poker remember that this is going to be an event for perhaps 3/400 people and having a game of poker in the corner could be seen as anti-social! A fun casino is something that everyone can be involved in and there will be prizes for the biggest winner etc.

If you want a poker night, sort it out. It's been on the cards (see what I did there!) for ages!

I on the other hand don't relish the idea of looking like a pocket size bouncer.

I dunno I reckon you'd look kinda cute. My Mrs could put you in her handbag and carry you around like an oversized actionman!:thumbup:

The idea is that this would be something that even the non-petrol heads amongst our families would like to attend, a super social event which will be fun for all, after all who doesn't like dressing up in their best and having a lovely time?
