I've not been to one of these do's for quite some time, so I will really enjoy planning for this, should it go ahead. I'm currently in posh frock heaven within my head!! Nothing like wearing a ball-gown to make you feel special!

Just because you can, does'nt mean you should.

prehaps some forum members could provide some of the entertainment we have some musicians and an opera singer in the membership...

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

gliffaes is a very very good hotel, the area is spotless and celan, plenty to see, there are a few casltes and monastries in the area great for photo shoots, also not far from there is the area i took the very big picture of the lotus last month, thats amazing for photos and the roads are so good for a hoon, they take you to the lake in the distance langorse lake, where they have day sailing, powerboats, water ski days, there horse riding, and if you want they can organise a skeet shoot also.

The idea is that this would be something that even the non-petrol heads amongst our families would like to attend, a super social event which will be fun for all, after all who doesn't like dressing up in their best and having a lovely time? :)

I agree, lets make it a non car important fun event.

:)

That way those travelling miles (or overseas) won't be fussed if they can't

get the Esprit there. And other halfs/kids won't be nodding off to lectures on

fibreglass repairs while dads busy betting next years holiday...

I'm 35 and have never worn a Suit. I have deffo not worn a tie since 1984 as

that was the last school i went to that demanded it. But i'm game to dress up

for the fun of it, as long as suit hire is not a million pounds as it's bound to get

ruined!

Looking forward to it already and can't wait to get cracking on them hotel

fixtures and fittings...

:D

Biggest potential problem with an event hosting 300/400 people is getting the commitment. When I say getting the commitment that means: booking and actually paying a deposit along way in advance. Its a real pain for organisers when they get alot of possiblies and probablies but no actual readies and then get let down nearer the event. Best way I found to get people to sign on the dotted line was to set up a standing order system and spread the costs say over 10 months (which seems less of a stab in the back pocket) and that way the organisers know numbers and can budget accordingly by the numbers attending.

i think that this event would definately need a decent deposit system set up, now depending on the hotel and the outlay per person that has to be arragned by bibs then a deposit for the rooms per the block booking should be made through him, anyone that drops out would lose the deposit or another person could "buy" the booking from them but it would have to be a non refundable, that way those who are serious about it will attend.

when bibs decides on the price scale of the event then we can all accomodate our payments accordingly, i for one would rather get the bookings set up as soon as its decided, then it gives kelly more time to pick her gown...

standing order is fine for us, but as kelly has just said after the deposits are paid she can just as easily keep all the cash until the day and pay on our card, not everyone will want to set up standing orders etc some will just want to pay on thier cards on the day for conveinience (oh and to rack up tier air-miles and points!)
