Looks 100% like a scam so I've removed the post with bad feeling towards our hero. Here's another one

Very clever, very convincing email which would fool pretty much the best of them but there were a few subtle hints in the wording then a thorough look through the headers reveals all. I'd had have a panic if it landed in my inbox to be honest!

Far from it to be honest, it's addressed from Peter Stevens and has lots of pertinent info about the website, stuff you can't find out easily unless you know the tricks!

What really got me was the email address was from Peter Stevens. VERY clever.

Dear Mr Blanchard,

With regards to your website www.lotusespritturbo.com we have to inform

that you are in breech of international copyright. Several images

displayed on your site have been brought to our attention by Adds by

Google and are the official property of ourselves and we have no record

of you licensing these images for publicity purposes. The research we

have completed shows that these images have been used for promotion

purposes since at least 21-dec-2004.

Our finance department will be sending a complete invoice with payment

terms to the address listed below:

Mr Mark Blanchard

This invoice will be for 4 years of image royalties and will require

payment within 30 days of the date of this email. To avoid additional

fines your C68-1 document granting you permission to use the images must

be provided to prove that initial permission has been granted. Without

this document you may face criminal proceedings for copyright theft. All

of these correspondents will be forwarded to Her Majesty=92s Revenue &

Customs to confirm that the failure to pay does not incur any additional

taxes or charges. I would expect a representative of HMR&C to contact you

shortly.

If you do not comply with the above requirements we will insist that you

cease and desist the use of these images and will seek to have your

website permanently shut down.

Well, now the dust has settled, apologies to all for this and top respect to Peter Stevens. I was got hook, line and sinker.

Also big thanks to Bibs for seeing through this. It was so well done and the Scammers did a lot of research into me and the website.

Hi Glyn,

I did read the whole story.................fantastic and very curious..............how did you come to all those ideas and surprising things...............it reads like a thriller and there are a lot of reasons and stupidities to laugh about (for instance the "tanker" / I got tears in my eyes from laughing !!!).
