I think you've spotted the Waldhaus pub/restaurant on the right. The clubhouse is the spec in the middle of the trees heading towards the Hoodoos.

We took a walk along the Tunnel Mountain side of the river the other day and made our way to the lookout at the edge of the Hoodoo hills. The view was terriffic, if you look over Louise's shoulder you can see the range stretching out for miles into the distance...hrhr.gif

Wait'll he sees the tab on checkout......sick.gif

Special request service: one each, evening snowstorm $3,775.00 Canadian

Graham, with all the expense of a holiday ski trip, you'd think you could at least have purchased a second glove for Louise.tongue.gif

Think you're right about the club house. Do they still serve fondue at the Waldhaus? Yummy!

The above picture (small though it may be, to conserve server harddrive space of course), lifted from the Sunshine Village Ski Resort, near the Banff Springs [Fairmont] Hotel, entitles the bearer to continue on harassing GKP in the "Random Pictures" thread without fear of undue beratement from red letter acronymed entities, pointing out that this is a "picture perfect" thread and not a textual format forum. Further, stipulation is herein made that no evidence for minimum number of said pictures has been discovered in law, and that the one suffices for the purposes of single posts.

Right. Now that that's taken care of, may I ask a question pertaining to GKP's recent (near "real time") postings? I've done the math, and it appears to me that it is still early afternoon on a Saturday in Banff. Most Canadian ski resorts tend to be open on the weekends, as this ensures a steady profit during the season. Ergo, I must take it that the lifts are operating at this moment. Yet here we have Sir Pilko busily entertaining us with "eat your heart out" visual representations of the fabulous accomodations at "The Springs." Now, either he and his lovely wife have elected to "lodge ski" for the day, or there is wireless internet service on the slopes themselves---which would be a new development to my mind. The only other explanation I can come up with is that his skis are still on the hill, remaining inaccessible and out of reach from a previous day's binding release test, in which case I suggest he make his way forthwith to the hotel rental shop to replace same.

Que pasa, amigo?

Ahh, your timepiece calculations are correct. It's about 2:45 in the afternoon here. Unfortunately, because of our extended time away from home, we had already agreed that some compromises had to be made. Someone sitting not a million miles away from this laptop has to spend a couple of days doing her planning for the imminent Summer term.

However, it's not all bad. We're sitting in the office suite of the hotel enjoying the connectivity, Sinatra is crooning gently through the pa system and the staff are keeping us topped up with complimentary drinkies and nibbles. The view of the mountains and the Elk down by the river are there to draw inspiration from when the mind goes to mush.

As it's a Saturday, the hills will alive with the sound of the locals, so the lineouts (queues!) for the chairlifts will be an unacceptable 15 seconds or so and therefore best avoided until tomorrow or Monday. Yesterday was a big powder day so my bones won't mind having the day off either....

We'll be off into town for a late lunch soon and probably walk it off by the lakes. biggrin.gif

In the meantime, as it's a picture thread, here's a photo of some of the local yoofs vandalising the grounds:

Man size jelly fish. That's my foot in the photo took it today at the local beach.

sick.gifsick.gifsick.gif Just one more reason why the mountains are safer than the beach. Seldom see jelly fish on the slopes, but if I do you'll be the first to know, Roger.

I heard they taste good with peanut butter.
