You are so right

Parents are down staying near us at the moment. Had a 2.30am knock on door Thursday morning from Dad. "Mums had a heart attack she's in Hospital"  Then a 3am phone call from hospital Friday morning saying back in surgery and asking us to come.

Fighting well and winning at the mo ?

All my best wishes to your mum Ian. :)

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

That is a total BEAST!!!!  Love it :)

I bought a tree.  It wouldn't fit in the Esprit so took the Mustang.

As you can see the family weren't over the moon.

Erm. Don't know how to say this nicely but don't give up the day as you missed loads of tufts there. No wonder the sheep don't look happy!

Back to the office?

In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

What do you mean don't give up your day job - it is my day job!

To be fair I don't normally shear the sheep (sod that for a game of soldiers). This one was done because it had got fly strike, we had just spent the previous 1/2 hour pulling maggots out of it. It may not look the happiest but it is a lot happier than it was before I got all artistic with it.

Anyone need a haircut? :geek:

Haha - try doing a bloody angora goat.......

we had a few of them some years ago and the old farmer next door sheared them - one was a real sod and he cut it literally everywhere !! I had to spray pretty much the whole goat with purple antiseptic spray - we had a kids birthday party that afternoon at home and the kids thought it was amazing..... Far better than the look it had before - it really did look like a chainsaw massacre gone wrong

He was shearing a sheep! You keep your goat stories to yourself and those dodgy DVD's you try to sell @barrythegoatworrier!

By the way, I thought an angora was a kind of sweater worn by blokes in the 70'S? :ermm:

Where do you think the angora wool came from - huff - you city guys :hrhr:

the stories only get worse when we change onto alpaca shearing - now that a whole different can o worms......

And don't underestimate how hard it is to do a bloody sheep - credit to the guys who can do it well.  @march I reckon you did an ace job there  - the maggots are vile and it's simply a horrible job.

Erm. Isn't Angora like a country between Spain and Wales. Thought it was like one of those Norwegian jumpers Kirk Douglas wore in the Heroes of Telenor.

You can take the boy out of the city....

Did sheep shearing once when I was a kid growing up on my uncles farm. Hated it, worst job I ever done, wet, smelly, sticky, covered in ticks. Worse than howing neeps or pickin taties by hand. Hence the farms long gone.

Just feeling generally happy with my lot in life after reflecting a bit on one of life's minor irritations.

I was initially quite unhappy this morning when I had to quit my ice hockey game early because of a cramping hamstring. But then I thought I should be bloody happy that at age 62 I am still fit enough, and have the time and resources, to go out a couple of times a week to chase a rubber disc across an artificially frozen pond. Playing also lets me subtly recognize two elements of my background (Scottish born; Canadian raised) by wearing Braehead Clan kit, with the added bonus of puzzling the other guys who wonder where I got the weird jersey from.

The other insight I got from watching the last few minutes of the game is that old-timers hockey has one parallel to porn - the underlying activity is much more enjoyable as a participant than as a spectator.

Trivial, but if it makes me happy it does the trick.
