Have an 89 SE. Fans are making a weird noise and not spinning. Where would I purchase new ones or should I put aftermarket fans on there?

I had a bolt back out of one of mine, and into the fan blades. Check for that, all it took was some loctite.

Also check with JAE, Dave Bean, SCW, and SJ Sportscars in the UK.

Tony on the TE list built a new shroud recently for some fancy Spal fans...

970CMF each

A1electric.com in Torrance CA...they were the

biggest SPAL fans that I could get and still have clearance with the top of the

frame of the car...they are model #30101500 and were $108.95

The trouble is, those second hand units are 20 years old or more I'd have thought. Cooling is important, without it the engine goes boom and would you trust that to a 20 year old component or would you rather spend a little more money and fit the best possible to your car?

I agree with some of the comments above UPGRADE, while the components especially if you are going to have to replace the fans anyway it just makes sense, I use spal spal fans and the difference in air flow movement is noticed instantly not just on running temps but the sheer noise of air suction you can tell just by listening to them that the are a worthy upgrade, also the connectors to attach the fans are easy enough, not much more time than fitting old units!

If you do go for the upgrade option just make sure you get genuine items as there are now a lot of spurious ones on the market!

Good luck, Regards danny
