Rare 340 R

Dont know how many of these were produced but I know not many. Spoted a rare Lotus 340 R passing me in Exmouth this morning. Seen them at shows but never a random spot on the road.

Number plate was a very simple 340 R

Best thing is.........how small are they. The X bow and the Atom are bigger, they are tiny!!

Just spoted the same car again (6pm) in centre of Exeter. I'm guessing 'Tourist/Holiday maker' or a 'new toy' being enjoyed.

Although Paul is right on most of his points, other sources point to the fact that the car was intended to produce 340bhp/tonne however when this was found to be too much of a challenge, Lotus limited the run of cars to 340 instead!

I saw that same car in Exeter a few weeks ago so I guess it must be local

I saw the same car last Thursday night returning from Exmouth's schools prom night. Thought it was something to do with that event as there was such a diverse selection of transport.
