Sounds like you have some fun - any pictures?

When did you start loosing oil?

How much and roughly where is it coming from/showing itself?

Looking forward to the pictures.

Is the oil coming down between the rear of the engine and the gearbox? If so, you may have a weeping rear crank seal. That

your rear rim is the same as mine 10''wide , and 18'' diameter... . the difference is just that your tire is an 295mm wide profile. Ohh, and of course the rims are made of a mag-alloy :X Anyway, with slippery oil, and without -it was a great spinning around !

as for the analog, please can you post te imagenetz-*thumbnails* instead !? I cant see something, and to reopen every picture makes a lot of 'traffic'... .

PS. where is my 60m 'braking' on (DOT 2200)front & (DOT 0600) rear :X

yeah, now it works , i can choose the pictures of interest first before i open all ...next time just create an *word*-file, and copy the headliners into it. That way you can reopen the 'admin'/host-page of your specific picture every time again. And if you store it as an reference on the harddrive, you will have the master-headlines available as long as the imagenetz-server is not cleared. Every master-headliner link directs you to the specific information for the *thumb* & *deletion* links and so on of that picture... .

They weren't html links. You cannot post html on the forum as it's a security risk. To be honest, your thumbnails are a pain too and it would be easier if you just used a free account on photobucket so we could see your pics in the posts like everyone else does.

OMG it sounds like a lot of work! I haven´t planned any trips to France in the next future, but I´ll keep an eye on the oil. Maybe it comes from somewhere else.. I was not all down under the car, because the car jack was a little bit instable, and I didn´t want to end my life getting crushed by a Lotus ;-) Next time I´ll go to the car lift of a friend of mine!

Is it possible, that I can´t buy the SIlikolene Pro S 10W/50 oil for cars in Germany? I found Silikolene from Fuchs on the german website only for motobikes...

Holger what is your plan ? adding oil on the top -as soon as it runs out on the base

You have a guaranty on the engine work,as posted in the PM you have seen. Use it, or it will get even more worst if you ignore all the small things. As more as you ignore things who need to be done -as more work you will have in the end... . I should know that, right :X

Holger -the Lotus recommendations for engine oil (or at least the recommended viscosity types..) are available in every autoparts-store: ATU, Tip-auto, or even in the supermarket [REAL for example] ...so what's the problem -why *silcolene* !?

@ Mike: I found this dealer as well. I´ll see about ordering some oil and shipping it to Germany. Due to the fact, that I won´t be home for two weeks, I´ll better get it, when I´m in Berlin again. Regarding the oil leak, I´ll see, if I can make it to France, which is going to be hard with a leaking engine, and summer tyres (in Germany it is now forbidden to ride on summer tyres in Winter, and especially if it´s snowing or so!).

@ Günter: I´m of course not that stupid to just fill up...

How is it about mixing different oil qualities? I read a lot about engine oils (for my work), and they sy, that non-synthetic oil is "bad" for the engine, and mixing different oil is not recommended. I guess, I should go and buy some 10W50 synthetic oil first, so that I don´t run dry over time.

@ both: I won´t ignore the oil leak, but as far as I´m no engineer, I can´t do so much about it...I´m still in my learning phase about DIY-Fixing of Esprits.

most modern oils are [fully]synthetic, and mixing them is not a problem in my mind -as if it would be one, you would have an real problem if you change your service-dealer, or the dealer would change his sources over the time. In both cases you will definitely get mixups with oil from different labels in your engine. Normally there is every time something that remains in the system if you regularly change the engine oil, and if that would be an problem an oil-change would simply be impossible  So don't worry to use ordinary Castrol or Mobile or every other brand with the right viscosity grades. It's just *labels*, and even if there really is an quality difference on some marketing-brands ...it will work as an ordinary oil should do it !
