@ John,

Thanks - I´m not back as such..... looking in from time to time, but this is Peter Downes baby now.

@ Trev,

Yes, the car was sold a few months ago. The custom ECU set-up was the last outstanding step which we finalised at the weekend.

With the good power and current gearing, the car should make that 200mph target. I´m sure there is more to follow.....

Cheers,

Mike S

Thanks guys.

The limit is the small turbine housing on the T25 turbos. For those modified V8 owners who have managed to install genuine GT2860s, there would be potentially more power to be had.

I was very pleased that the chargecooler system managed to control the inlet temperature so well with the higher level of boost.

By the way - the engine is running minus cats and coupled with a last edition Lotus centre exit muffler; Sounds gorgeous in the flesh !

Cheers,

Mike S

Yeah, Mike. It's always a good idea to remove the cats prior to firing the lump up. They can become a bit agitated at times.biggrin.png

For those that have asked: the RWHP (hp at the wheels) was 488, with 426 lb/ft

Brilliant work, Mike.

Have to commend you on your skills and level of workmanship, a great read from start to finish. Picked up some useful ideas along the way too.

Bibs - as usual, youre right. BN had plans for Betsy as a 4.0l NA engine. The engine never materialised, although Garry Kemp is holding the remaining NA parts for me. The V8 4.0l NA screamer engine will hopefully come to life later next year. ...

...Ive been struggling with too many options, so Ive decided to use Betsy for the planned 4.0l NA engine...

The x-plane engine will be built-up with a mild output in mind. After all, it is being built more for aural delight than for utlimate performance.

About NA Betsy, I couldn't find a thread on it, so I did wonder if you got it done? Or if you still plan to?

Hi Nick,

Not sure if you registered, but I´m no longer building or working on Lotus Esprit projects.

I sold the project car and all of my engine parts/tools to another Lotus enthusiast. My last remaining task is to perform an assisted engine build sometime later this year, although the actual build spec. for that engine is not finalised.

The option to build the NA engine is still there, although I have my doubts that it will ever happen now. It is a shame, as the 4.0 NA would be a real treat.

Anyway, all the best to you !

Cheers,

Mike S

Well this is an awesome build I'm glad I found this . Is mike still about I have a question ... Please don't think I'm pointing the finger at your work it's pretty amazing but why go for the charge cooling mike as it seems a lot to have the wiring ,plumbing ,space and weight taken up by this system when if you were removing the rear panel could you have not just fitted a big core inter cooler and directed air in off the carbon deck through the cooler and out of the rear ?
