Firing order?

What is the fireing order on a 4 pot?

If I look at the enegine from above and call the front Cylinder i.e ner athe cabin 1 and number them 1,2,3,4

what should they be on the dizzy? I have just pulled the old dizzy and the firing order on this going clockwise was 1,2,4,3 is that right?? I thought it would be 1,2,3,4

Chris, no engine would fire in that order, you'll work out why if you think what the pistons are connected to and how that firing order would effect it.

From the manual, the Esprit firing order is 1,3,4,2.

Yep see what you mean,

Mind you if the esprit is 1,3,4,2 then mine must be wrong if its been setup 1,2,4,3? that could explain the misfire

Chris. Are you reading it in the correct order?

1,3,4,2 reversed is 2,4,3,1,2,4,3,1.....

So 1,2,4,3 is in there, it's just about starting point in the cycle and direction.
