I know alot of us will be having the polo shirts for identification.

However, when wondering around oggling 100 odd Esprits, will there be any way of knowing which Esprit belongs to who. Is a small window sticker a good idea.

For the attention of Monday only attendees...

The Sunday is going to be a day when us, as Esprit owners get together and do some good for charity. You are benefiting from a day at the factory organised by others, now do some good and help those in need. We will have a great day and get to meet other owners and bring together our online community spirit. This is an appeal for you to attend on the Sunday too, the fewer Monday only people the better. It's a Sunday, you can't be that busy if you've taken Monday off too.

Also, on another note, if anyone who has put their name down cannot attend, let me know asap. If your name is down and you don't attend, I personally think that unless there is a bona fide good reason that's bad sport so you will be banned from the forum for life. Sorry to say that but I don't want to fill the numbers, limiting attendees to have no-shows on the day.

I'll add in a hear hear! :) It's not a problem attending Monday only, no probs at all but if someone doesn't turn up someone will feel hard done to cause he was told he couldn't come due to the day being full.

On another note and again in regards to the above post, I can understand if someone from Manchester etc can't come on the Sunday due to the distance etc, however there should be no excuse for someone in the East Anglia region. Lets make this a day to remember for all the right reasons and show all other car owners just what a community Lotus and Esprit owners really are!.

Not only that, but we are hoping the Convoy will be covered by the press so you could get you and your car in there!

I sent out an email to 1,800 people today about this event and so far have had over 100 questions emailed back to me and it's only been a couple of hours.

I don't have time to answer them I'm afraid until you guys pay me a full time directors salary and all the questions I've been asked have answers online, you just have to find them which isn't too difficult.

For your reference, I will not be answering questions emailed to me but I will answer questions posted online (that gives other people a chance to answer) and please search for your answer before asking and to the 4 people who asked me the date of the event, no, I'm not singling you out!

So where are we going and when?

Hi, (thanks for the tip-off fishy)

I am still around sort of, and hopefully still on the esprit scene. Unfortunately my old SE has now become a new kitchen... and a bathroom, and a bedroom, and a living room, and a gravel driveway  but I am stilll hoping to get back on the road in the nearish future with a new car.

Many thanks for all the asking after me... brings a tear to my eye to see such fondness :D:(

Hopefully Vanessa and I should be along to October 9th. I shall confirm as soon as I know for definite! :D

This for now, I shall be back with firmer affirmations! :(:P

For reference, if we fill up and I need to cut numbers, preference will be given to those involved in the Sunday event and Monday only attendees will lose their place to those who wish to participate in both days. Please bear this in mind if you aren't planning on coming on the Sunday but I want to see as many people as possible being involved in the whole event, not just the factory tour.

Hi Bibs

Fair enough about those of us coming on Monday potentially being struck of the list to accomodate those able to make both days but can you let us know a bit in advance of the day so we can cancel leave and other arrangements that might have been made to cover absence etc. Too late notice and I will have a day of leave to waste sitting on my fat arse doing not a lot... hmmm perhaps not so bad :)

Cheers

Angus

Surely after all this time and coverage, it should be possible that the number of factory places left should be set and the remaining places are only available on a first come first served basis. That way all members who have signed up will be going and the only disappointment will be those people who are not currently on this forum and have yet to signed up to attend the Factory Meet. That way no difficult decisions need to be made about who qualifies and who doesnt. It was after offered originally as a LEF Factory Visit.

However, hopefully all who want to attend will be able to in end and that way no one is disappointed. :)

I think Carl makes a fair point...

It has been an awfully long time now that people have had the opportunity to sign up ...It would seem a tad unfair to be bumped by serious late comers?

Maybe if 'Monday onlys' get bumped it ought to be on a last in first out basis?

Wow this is a hard issue. Ermm....Bibs? :)

Actually, I have to say, personally, that this is an event that encourages a complete event and therefore we need members who are attending both days. Can you imagine what sort of event it would be with only half of the people attending the Convoy and Charity auction? It smacks of people not wanting to take part in the social part (it is a Sunday and therefore no one needs to have time off work) and the charity part but get the best bits for themselves.

Sorry if that opinion upsets anyone, it's not meant to, especially those with actual reasons not to attend both days, but it is my opinion. When you consider we have non LEF members queueing up to attend both days and contribute during the convoy/auction you can see our problems.

I am sorry, but I would love to attend on both days but and it is a big but, Renu and I are in the middle of a house purchase and completion date is looking like it will be sometime in October, add to that we need every bit of spare cash for the move, solicitors ,searches new garage door so I can get my Esprit inthe new garage etc. I decided that I wasnt coming at all, however I was told it was not an option, so I chose monday. I want to socialise and meet people especially those coming from overseas, but I have no desire to drink myself silly and then drive the following day. If I get bumped... I get bumped no hard feelings but please dont presure people with phases like " it smacks of not wanting to socialise"

Edited by esprit350

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

...but I have no desire to drink myself silly and then drive the following day.

This is not an issue that has either escaped my attention or that

i have not raised at an admin level, it concerns me too mate.

:o

For my part, i'm probably going to be helping out on the days so

it would not be exactly helpful if i'm all landbased and green the

day after.

I am concerned that there is a real risk of people getting carried

away drinking and then driving the next day, after all it's not like

opening the curtain sunday morning at home and thinking 'I'm

still not safe, i won't drive today', people will not want to miss this

event.

People will be over enthusiastic and excited anyway, everyone will

want to show a burst of speed here and there (no matter how easy

they are told to take it), with everyone sober and focused it will be

a real story of success to get all the cars home with no incident.

The police will of course almost certainly be there to monitor our

sunday convoy as well.

Personally, it's up to members to be responsible and honest with

themselves. If i wake up unsafe to drive then i will have ruined it

for myself as i won't be getting in my Esprit.

Likewise, if someones Esprit hit's my car and the driver appears over

the limit, i'll call the police no different to any other day, no worries at

all.

:D
