You feel old when I first started riding bikes 250cc was the limit and when I did my test the examiner was on foot and jumped out in front of you, well not quite but I don't think I saw him apart from that one time.You could also once you had passed your test buy any capacity bike you liked. (the good old days eh! clear roads no speed cameras and you could fill your bike up for a quid)

Ditto. I passed on the KH100 when I was 18 with no training or lessons whatsoever. I rode round a couple of blocks for 20 minutes, saw the examiner once or twice (yes, he did jump out from between parked cars for the emergency stop) and passed first time. A month later I was on the CB550. Those were the days.

GSX-R750RK, TZR250SP Reverse Cylinder, KR250A Tandem Twin (x4), GSX-R50, KSII-80. And my missus has a Hornet 250, SDR200, TDR80 and NSR50. We have a bit of a thing for obscure Japanese grey-imports...

In the past I've had : DT50, AR80, DT125R, KH250, TDR250, 350LC (x2), S3A 400 Triple, GSX-R750 (x3), GSX-R1100.

Did anyone go to the Classic Japanese Show at Stafford last weekend ? We were there doing this :

I've been a biker since I was 17. And, until last year, I have never been without a bike.

I sold my last bike a couple of years ago when I got my Exige S as I just never got the chance to ride it, what with the crap weather and the Exige being just as much fun...but warm as well.

I passed my test in 1996 and bought a brand new CBR-600FX in 99. Kept it for 3 of years (1 accident as is the norm) until I sold it to get a 2002 Ducati 748 E which I bought new and will never sell:

My wife (Sandra) was sicked fed up of being a pillion so end up getting her a: Suzuki SV650S:

However after her off (resulting in a very impressive high side and a fractured pelvis) we decided to sell it.

After a little while we bought another bike for commuting: Suzuki DRZ-400S. Must admit it was fun for me but not the best bike for the commute into work.

Eventually traded it in for a Ducati Monster 696+ with the hope that Sandra would start biking again. However with me being constantly away with work it never happended so we sold it this year with just 900 miles on the clock in 3 years!!!

I think it's more to do with the average age of the guys on the forum. If others are like me that come from bikes many years ango and still have an interest in two wheels but not the discomfort the hyper sports provide.

Currently have triumph Daytona 675.

Unfortunately with the Evora plus 2 kids under 2yrs the bike has had very limited use recently.

Previously had zx6r and before that a fazer when I used to commute into London all the time.

Would love Ducati 848 but cannot justify swapping with little use it gets.

Perhaps a triumph rocket in 10 yrs

Yes JAson and Trev. The MT-01 was the best mix of handling and sheer grunt I could find. 1680cc of V twin. At full chatter (a mere 6000rpm) the sound was awesome and the torgue was arm wrenching.

 

But as I said. I just never got to take it out enough.......I would buy another now just for the 10 days a year I could ride it!

Last raced her back in 84' and restored her over the last 7 years. Started the engine up at the Australian Historic Championships which were held here in Tassie in 2011 just to hear it run again after 27 years

Got an offer for a display spot in the Museum here and so thats where she lives now, unless there's a local historics show on.

Must have been fun dragging the Harley, was it a pure drag racer or street drag bike for week day fun too?

It was a fairly standard bike apart from the fact I used to get a guy in Reading to sort and tweak it, I bought it before Harleys were trendy so enjoyed the old bone shaker for what it was, an awkward heavy road bike that came into it's own on a drag strip when you revved it to over 4K and just dropped the clutch and hung on, very addictive. Must be nice to ride a light little racer though, I also owned a Vincent Comet or half a Vincent as it was rudely called by some. Don't have any bikes now as I was nearly killed by a lady not looking ahead and instead looking behind at her screaming brat, still I lived to tell the tale at least.

Hi Gunter, Hips were replaced due to disease called AVN. Getting in and out of SE is by using hands to swivel my butt on the sill plate. Once in, am OK. Bikes were getting hard to separate leg while getting over the seat. Also, if I were to go down for almost any reason on the bike, I probably would destroy what is left of either hip.
