Lotus day at Grampian Transport Museum - 11 August 2013

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I have been talking to the museum today about SpeedFest and we also discussed doing a breakfast club / ride on day at the GTM which was looked into last year but didn’t get anywhere.

The plan was to have the standard breakfast club morning, go to the museum for lunchtime and have a tour round the museum and then take members of the public / museum visitors out for runs round the track in the cars.

We might have to have a few runs round the track ourselves prior to the public coming in to assess conditions :-) :-)

It would be a Lotus only day with about 8 or 9 cars on the track at any one time but any other cars available for photographs etc and swapping out to give people a break half way through.

It would be about a 2 hour session on track possibly followed by / or preceded by a barbeque.

It would be good if we could get about 15 cars (or more) so that the session could be split in two, driving and pictures.

Runs round the track would be demonstration runs rather than flat out and there is no racing under any circumstances due to safety risks with the public next to the track.

If you are available and would like to take part, please add your name and car to the list below

Cheers

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

Unfortunately as you know that is the day I'm flying back into the UK from a holiday so can't make it or would have loved to.

Good luck.

A great idea for a LEGS Breakfast/Lunch.

Sounds like a great idea.

I have that weekend free in the Lodge and the cottages, if I get enough people interested I could block out the Saturday and Sunday night and we could turn it into a Lotus Weekend? We could organise a BBQ for the Saturday night and I'll do breakfast rolls for the mornings. Just and idea.

I've got clearance from the boss but I'd need more takers for the room. The Lodge has 10 bedrooms and the two cottages have 2 bedrooms each. I can block this weekend out if i can get takers for most of the rooms. Can everyone pass the word around as I need tell the agency before someone else steps in and books it. All I need to do is cover laundry, cleaners, heat and light so it would be £10 per person per night. Tents free ;)

Archie

I would be interested in a Double/Twin room for the Saturday night. I can't commit to staying over Sunday just now as we are having work done on the house and would need to be back Sunday evening.

Any more takers for this guys?

I need to get a few more cars signed up so that I can let the museum know that we are available.

Gordon

Would you like me to post this on Scottish Elise's to see if we can get some more takers?

The more the merrier Brian.

Would like to have enough cars to have the track full and reserves ready to change out.

The more different models we get the better but it would also be good to have a part of the session where its all Elise's

Now posted on SE. If they come over and add their names that would be good but I will monitor the SE site and copy over any names listed there.

Thanks Brian

I'm sure this would be a great day out so hopefully we will manage to generate enough interest to get it off the ground.

Looks like we are making progress. It would still be good to get a few more cars though.

I spoke to the museum this week and they are keen to get this firmed up but with SpeedFest comming up they are fully focused on that and once that is passed i will make the arrangements to host the Lotus day with them.

Any more cars anyone????

Hi folks

Ok, so looking good......I will get back to the museum and give them a 100% yes for this.

Plenty scope for more cars which would give people a break from driving and have some static displays as well.
