Original horn trumpets

Recommended Posts

Hi,  I am removing front spoiler, rad and lots of bits.  I have found one horn trumpet with a rubbish Ford Escort type Motorcraft round horn.  As the round one has been fitted by someone at some time I am assuming the trumpet is dead.  Should there be two?  Different lengths?

Had a look at SJ and Halfords.  Not really what I had in mind.  Majority are air horns which mine are not.  SJ are not trumpets.  Was hoping to find original or much closer to original than I have seen so far.

Thank you for any more info

So, is yours run from an electrical horn and not a compressor in the front boot? I thought that was original?

Blimey.  Don't know.  There are two spade connections on it and nothing obvious for air.  I will go and check.

had a look.  No connections for air only 2 spade connectors. Written in the black plastic moulding is MIXO, Stritone, Made in France,

Maybe this is not original.

Can anyone confirm?

So, the ones I removed from mine had a small cylinder in the front compartment. Electrics went there. A clear tube the went to each horn from this compressor.

My parts diagram suggests that both air and electric were available and original!

It would be interesting to hear the differerence, if there is one.

I havnt seen electric horns though - just snails.

Im a twonk.  I should have looked in my book.  Yes there are listed air horns and twin electric so looks like my one is probably original electric with one missing.  Tomorrow I shall test it but am not expecting it to work.

Part numbers for the originals are A079M6086F Low note and A079M6087F  High note.

Can anyone help me in finding a new pair or second hand that work

Many thanks

Its a fair bet that Mike at Lotusbits will have some. If he doesn't, they probably dont survive!

Don't email him, call.

It's not a really clear picture Phil, but this is my set up and there are 2 electric horns, one longer than the other, and I am sure they are original. Pretty tight fit too!
