Blue Elise, Kirkcaldy. Now, what's in-transit spotting etiquette?

I was in my matt black Evora S (which apparently nobody can see) behind a blue Elise-something-or-other (sorry, I'm new) on the A92 on Friday late morning, on the bit between Kirkcaldy and the Bankhead roundabout going north. It turned off towards Glenrothes up Woodside Way which is where we parted company.

However, he may not have noticed me in his rear-view mirror. And I didn't know if etiquette was to overtake it and wave furiously, to just flash my dazzling headlights at it a lot, or to put in a request to Forth One FM to say hello over the airwaves... or to politely ignore it and not try to initiate in-transit contact with the occupants, typically a pair of middle-aged men as seems the way with most Lotus cars (or Lotuses, whichever you prefer). ;)

As long as PC plod is not in sight give them a flash !

There's always the grovelling apology that "it's a new car and I'm a bit silly and haven't worked out which thing does the windscreen washers yet and isn't it so dirty, lovely Officer, no I wasn't flashing at all, oh sorry did I flash my lights, I wondered why no water came out" trick.
