Soon!

Insulation done.

2 layers of ceramic fibre blanket.

Then a thick layer of vermiculocrete - vermiculite + portland cement + a little lime.

Now just need it to dry for a week before the first curing fires can be lit.

Render will also need doing along with a few tiles on the top platform.

Buddsy,

The bottom bit is where the wood is stored. Top bit hosts the fire and the food like this

Well, like most projects, I got my info from many sources including

http://www.fornobravo.co.uk/

http://www.ukwoodfiredovenforum.proboards.com/

http://www.traditionaloven.com/

and the plans in pdf form. This is what really allowed me to construct this, and here it is, free!

This is on my list of things to get done at our house too. Very impressive so far, looking forward to seeing pics of any edible food that comes out of it!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hmm. You know, when the revolution comes.......

Aaaanyway, finished.

Final render on, slate tile working surface (plenty of beer space)

Tiny bit of work to do on the door but tomorrow, I plan to fire up to working temp. Got up to 400degC last time so should be safe now.
