Gutted lost rear centre cap

Gutted after only 700+ miles and still running the car in I've lost a centre cap off one of the rear wheels.

I'm not particularly impressed its popped out like that, personally think its pretty poor.

 

I know the fronts can melt under track use, but to pop out during normal road use is a bit bad.

I've not heard of this before, I'm sure the dealer will replace it, or send you one in the post. They are very easy to fit.

Some Sikaflex will help.

Unfortunately it's not unheard of. As Bibbo says, a small dab of Sikaflex or even clear silicone sealant will prevent it happening again.

Cheers for the info, I'll have a moan at the 1k service. Do you know if the dealers stock them or is special order?

Not living on the main land the service will end up being a 24 hr flying trip, so I don't want to be waiting for oats etc

They'll have a forecourt full of them if they need one in an emergency, or they're a standard factory order.

Well I do not want to tempt fate but 18000 miles and still four caps on my wheels and still rolling along .

Build quality !

Need to buy auto just to keep the miles down.

I've had centre caps fall out of every lotus I've owned! It has occasionally happened on the road and is almost guaranteed to happen on track.

Lotus have actually changed them recently. They now incorporate a metal ring spring to give a tighter seal.
