You will have to forsake your love of frankfurters and Beck's...

They can stuff those dodgy sausages right up their tail pipes.

Becks - what a rubbish drink as well. Won't miss a single German item - even their porns crap

Well, I won't be buying their cars but Currywurst washed down with Vodka Martini's in the Hotel de Rome in Berlin will not be forsaken by me! My principles are for sale ;)

As you may have seen by now, Mitsubishi too is deeply involved in faking milage. Japanese headquarter raided by police. Nissan involved via Mitsubishi too.

The plot thickens...

OOooopppss, another 630.000 german diesel cars being called back, from VW, Mercedes, Opel, Audi and Porsche, because of emisions...

Well, I don't like diesel cars anyway,

Jacques.

Yes, vag announced, that they will buy back a LOT of the cars from American users, or change some parts on the car, or let users terminate their leasing contracts.

I think it's time to tighten up legislation, as everyone seems to make so much money, that they calculate a fine (big) every now and then.... They are a complete disgrace and a shining example of what happens when only Money talks, and no conscience, no moral.

If things continue this way, I end up having a 26 year old Lotus Esprit Turbo SE, which have a better milage than a brand new car. It probably is already. As for engine size, Lotus Esprit Turbo SE is already 26 years ago well up front with the downsizing: 2.2L 4 cylinder, 16v, turbo and 298 horses and 356 newtonmeter. Sounds like a car from 2016.  A perfectly modern car... I hadn't realised that. ;) No need for a big v6, v8, v10 or v12. Well done, Lotus! In comparison, a 911 from same year, sucks twice as much fuel, and breaks Down twice as much and spares are twice as much Money. 26 years ago as well as today in 2016. Mind-boggling.

I'd also add the 911 is infinitely more shit and twice as likely to be owned by a knob.

may they all rot into a million bits......

I agree, apart from rotting, because I surely like to have some car (-owners) that I can make fun of or with. Just last week, I participated in a Porsche workshop (old school) reopening in new premises (more country like, no steel and glass). And guess what? It was great fun.

But don't worry Barry, they do rot...

Now, that Venturi 400 Trophy surely looks good from where I sit ;)

I agree with some of the comments that had been posted in the topic that bibs posted a couple of posts ahead.

One guy says the 200,000 fine will be picked up vw and Liang will probably get a big fat settlement payment from vw when he finishes his sentence for playing the part of the fall guy.   Higher folks will of gave him the job to design the gadget to fuel the emissions tester,  you just do not go into work and think, i know i will design this thing today !

Mental,  and to think also the oil burners are the worst form of thing now that cause cancer !  I think this lawsuit will be never ending as i can see the Americans taking court action not only for the enviroment side effects but also the medical in the future imo.

Stuart scape goat is the word chap   Lets just hope he gets very well rewarded for it,  because he is getting well and truly bent over !

I can just see all the top board members and top brass now rubbing their hands and swigging back a cold one with a sigh of relief !

Cheap excuse Brexit, with the pound at a low should make their exports more competitive, more to do with the diesel  problem  and the plethora of 4x4s

hindsight: the science that is never wrong

Yes the Guardian has mentioned Brexit as it would, but the analysts on BBC news firmly pinned it on diesel. The government is letting local councils do their own thing on diesel cars which is a recipe for disaster.

its got nothing to do with brexit more to do with design and reliability.

the range looks very bland like every other suv these days...  gone are the rugged looks

way too many reliability problems, through out the range, of the 6 people i know with cars less than 2 years old, every one has been back at the garage with problems, some unfixed after months of back and forwards...

the new discovery rear end just looks absolutely hideous with its offset plate...

the designer and management FOOk up, its the workers that get sacked.....  nothing new here ..

Possibly but not that simple as a lot of the materials will be imported. Still. I agree more likely to do with diesel decline.
