Interesting, that calculator seems to be about right - I was almost at the redline on my run @ 172mph, that calculator says top in fifth would be 177.

James, this won't be any consolation, but the other day I was looking at a F430 Scuderia on a 58 plate. (It was being serviced by a friend)  The fit and finish was atrocious for a £250,000  car, or thereabouts.

Huge door gaps everywhere. Misaligned panels. Crooked seals, loose rear outer light. Very poor paint. Unevenly fitted bodywork. Guess all the money is for the engine and sound.

My S4S is perfect in comparison.

Martin.

Go in one around Spa... You'll soon forget about the panel gaps. Raw, mighty and vicious spring to mind!

They were about £100k less new

Have to agree with aurouge having been in a 430 Scuderia, what panel gaps. never noticed them at all!

Oh and for those who think the Evora key is meh, well here's the F430 Scuderia one. I'm off to paint my Evora Key Yellow....    :o

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

I expect because its fairly low on the priority list.

Aston never get it right - they had the same Ford/Volvo key we do, then they moved to that silly glass brick which I think they got even more slating for!

I did fix my rattly window on my own

@JayEmm what was your fix for rattly windows?

Also the subwoofer? Mine is physically present but doesn't do anything, even with the volume up and fader rear. Ran the "car specific setup" a few times to make sure both rear speakers and subwoofer were nominated as present; no dice.

Edit: just found your subwoofer woes thread, trying those settings now.

@chylld rattly window solution was trim gel on the window seals. It needs to be reapplied after time though.

Are yours rattling?

Thanks JM, I applied some wax to the window seals, mainly the chunky bits facing the inner window surface but I also tried to get some up in the gap that meets the top edge of the window. About half of the noise has gone, but I can still hear a faint tick-tick almost like something is sticking/unsticking rapidly.

I also have some gummi pflege at home, might give that a try...

So, no Lotus content in this video, but I thought those of you who have been following my videos might enjoy this. Long story short, my mate bought a fire engine on eBay, for an impossibly low price, then decided it would be a great idea to travel from Ipswich to Redruth and attempt to bring the thing back home with no support beyond a breakdown support card. What could possibly go wrong?

So I recently met a chap who owns a Cayman GT4, but has never driven a Lotus. Presently working my hardest to make that oft-requested comparison happen.

Michael

Still working on it. Noticed one of my headlight washers was not working, though it's more than likely just a blockage. I am still trying to work out a solution to fix my seats and hope to be discussing one possible solution with Lotus tomorrow.

The issues are slowly being resolved, the seat is still the major one but fingers crossed the end is in sight

Regarding hand built I know perfection is unattainable, but this is why we have quality control.

Because QC does not inspect ALL samples. (Not that I know of anyway.) It inspects a small amount of samples. Maybe your car was finished on Friday arvo just near knockoff time?

You want to see then number of warranty issues that came back to the dealership when I was there. It's a lot. They just had a cleanout in the downstairs area of entire replaced engines. I counted at least 14 crates. That's not just an intake hose or something. The entire engine. The old ones aren't even analysed. Landfill.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Today's video shoot...

Can't wait!! :D

Just curious... do you deliberately colour grade your videos the way they are? Added a bit of contrast for an alternative look...

@chylld In short, I don't tend to do an intensive grade, if for no other reason than I lack the time and skills.

I do massage the image though, as I'm usually shooting in S-Log (3.cine if you're curious) which of course comes through very flat. The image I posted there was only done by a screengrab with a quick contrast and saturation boost in Irfanview, when the video gets edited I run it through a proper LUT which usually generates more pleasing results.

Stylistically it's all in the eye of the beholder of course, but I have a general allergy to clipped whites and crushed blacks...

Understood, totally up to you to create your own style :) It did remind me of ungraded S-Log though which is why I felt like having a tinker!

Will be fun to watch for now but do a 410 vs the GT4 when you can.

No offence or belittlement intended but that's a better like for like comparison now the 410 has hit the roads...
