Goodwood Revival

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys and Girls

We are going to the Goodwood Revival in September and are doing it "properly" by dressing up in period clothes. Most of my clothes are sorted, but on the Saturday I'd like to go dressed as a Team Lotus mechanic between 1960 and 1966. I've been through all my Lotus books etc to find any photos of how the mechanics were dressed in period, but to no avail. If anyone has any copies of any photos they may have of any mechanics in period dress or let me know how they would have been dressed; colours of overalls and team identification, badges,  logos etc. they can let me have I'd be very grateful. I have e-mailed Classic Team Lotus twice, but not had any response from them.

I call it God's waiting room for car enthustists.  I've been going to the Revival since it started and it's a great event, but it seems to appeal to people in their later years.  So many great people I've seen at the event have passed away, Sir Jack Brabham, Barry Sheen to name a few, and my Father, who really loved the event (and used to watch the racing in the early 1960s.  He saw Moss make that terrible crash too).

So I'm taking a rain check this year and going to car events more my own age.  Maybe I'll go in a few years when I start going grey and yearn for the past a bit more.  And hopefully they'll have moved the cut off date for racing cars from 1965 to 1975, my biggest grip!

Maybe they should just do a 2nd event from 1965 to 75 and get the ladies to dress like Pans People

Unfortunately, that will never happen for the Revival.

However, have you thought about going along to the Members' Meeting? Plenty of post 1965 stuff there.
