The Essex with Chassis No 10308 is - according to the latest register - number 008.

Why is it acoording to another register the Number 039?

 

number 008 and 039 is the same car? How can that be?

The owner of LHD Essex 008 Chassis No. 10308 changed it to 039.

Lotus records still recognise it as LHD 008.

I mis quoted Phil’s car as previously LHD where it should have read previously a ROW car in red restored by Mark at Stocks into Copper.

Hi everyone. I have been doing a full restoration on a Yellow dry sump chassis number 11196 for the owner who has had the car since 1998. Sadly in 1997, some 25 years ago he had a friend partially dismantle the engine by removing the cylinder head. 

As can be seen above.

The Body and chassis have been removed and the engine has had a nut and bolt restoration, along with the rest of the car.

Met Tim Shaw (of Car SOS fame) today at The British Motor Show. He said he owns a white dry sump Esprit and showed me a photo of it.

He showed it off on Car SOS - the S1 Esprit episode. It broke down while Fuzz was driving!🤦🏻‍♂️

YBJ29X isn’t on the register as far as I know but don’t have the chassis number to confirm, it shows as a 81 car registered in 1994 so could have been a ROW import.

When Tim was restoring the car one of his reaserchers contacted me wanting to buy my compomotive wheels. In true Sos style he didn’t want to pay what I wanted for them so he diamond cut his bbs.

It looks like he has done exactly the same as I did, with the BBS wheels which was satin-black them and then have the webbed faces milled flat then the whole wheel diamond cut.

does somebody have more info about that diamond cut proces he did on those BBS wheels it looks amazing! i also want to do that,

also about the paint, how he did that?

I did mine myself years ago, it’s not hard work just time consuming Bauke, I used a sanding disc to cut down the spokes then progressed with wet and dry through the grades finishing with 1500 grit.

I sprayed the wheels black then giving them just a final cut to expose the polished looked. The rims are the same process only doing by hand with wet and dry followed by autosol.

Also this one appeared on ebay. A lookup of the reg shows it registered June 1982

I have tried to contact the seller to see if they have a certificate of provenance from lotus. Reason being when I did they say my may 82 car (ex malcom smith) shouldn't exist as the wet sump run had started by then and so it cant be a dry sump. Can anyone else with a car my age help me prove it is what I say it is?
