Ta Tony :)

Most of those pics were taken with the Canon 50mm f1.8 prime which is a pretty fast lens for the money so they were only taken on ISO 800 to reduce noise. What 'few' extras did you get? I dread to think! :)

Just had the bundle with a 55-200 lens, flash, case etc. and added an 8.0mb card (the fast one) :)

Took it to the river with me dog (he thinks he's a duck) and shot about 200 off and the results were great.

Saw those white lenses in the shop -

The main reason for getting the kit was for the racing pics. My other equipment was slr digi but too basic to get fast action shots.

I was trying to get a deal on ebay on a Canon but the security of the local Jessops made sense in the event of a snag.

Why are the white lenses so expensive compared with these normal ones - apart from the ability to bring the distance in?

They are 'L' lenses and the optical quality of the glass is superior to 'normal' lenses and they are weather sealed, unlike normal lenses. They are also in some cases huge so the cost of manufacturing the optics is very high. A 12" diameter piece of glass which is optically perfect takes a lot of effort to make. They often have huge apertures too and the larger the aperture, the faster the lens (ie the quicker it can take a pic) as more light enters. An example of aperture/price is the Canon 50mm prime (non-zoom). The f1.8 is sub

none of the artists in your pics Bibs seem to be playing any instruments, are they an accapella group?

Very nice Rich - I went with the Sigma 70-300mm but one day hope to stretch to IS and perhaps even L lenses!

Great capture Ade! I was driving to the guru's yesterday on the flight path to Rochester Airport and on a tree lined avenue there was a Cessna at about 100ft on finals. Going to head down there with the camera next time the wind blows that way, makes for an unusual shot!

Ade - Interested to see, they at last have a runway now. Went to Skiathos in 84 & 85 - no runway/concrete to speak of then.
