The problem with the image of cars with Lambo doors on non standard cars is that they belong on the modding/cruise scene, a place where (with the exception of Karl) Esprits' aren't generally seen. The problem with that scene is that people do these things to their cars to show off to other people and although I'm sure they derive some self satisfaction it's pretty much all for show.

When I organised a rally a couple of years back for the release of a GLC song, the dude who turned up below just didn't want to close the doors, not even when driving along Oxford St/Regent St with a police escort!

yes i know i know its a piss take but there has to be something there in the first place in you to

Coo What a lot of strong opinions. I think Lambo doors would suit an Esprit but do look daft on a tarted up hatchback which is trying to be something it's not but each to their own. Probably the only people you will impress are other modders, though.

Could be useful in the UK where a standard garage is 8 feet wide if you are lucky.

UP unitl the 60's most high-end cars were heavily modded. You would buy your chassis from Rolls Royce or Bentley or Daimler or even Ferrari and take it off to your favourite coachbuilder to have a body put on it, often to your own design. Some of these one-offs ae worth a forune like the Ferrari "Breadvan"

Monocoque or uni-body construction put a stop to that.

And, of course, the Esprit started off as a one-off, a total mod of a Europa. So maybe Karl is truest to the Esprit's heritage.

Slade, it was originally called the XP 882 4 Rotor in 1973, but was later re-christened the Aerovette when GM removed the Wankel engine and put in a small block V8 Chev (think it was a 400) in 1976.

Its still a beautiful car.
