Now, lots of Corby is pretty grim but a housing estate on Rockingham (an ex steel works, no less)? I think that would be scraping new barrels. 

 

It's going to become an 'automotive processing and storage site':

"From 2019, Rockingham is set to become one of the largest automotive facilities in the UK. The refocus will create new jobs across management, sales, administration, HR, technology and finance. Significant investment over the next three years will redevelop and extend the facilities to store, prepare, de-fleet and remarket a greater volume of vehicles."

This is my nearest race circuit. I went to that first Indycar race in 2001, just out of curiosity. It was indeed thrilling to get up-close and sense the mind-boggling speed the cars could achieve on an oval. My other memory was that half of the grid were Brazilians or Mexicans! I never felt the urge to go back though. I guess I wasn't the only one.
