  1. If you'd posted this yesterday I'd have dropped in on the way back from visiting the folks. Did that help? Thought not...
  2. Happy Birthday Travis
  3. Don't think there's any need to wait for the French - quite a few Alpine loving Brits are already baying for his blood. Evidently, there is also rather more to "Jezza's" crash than meets the eye. Have a read through this thread and Stunned Monkey's post of 1st Dec in particular.
  4. Eating somewhere in Prince of Wales Road? If so, I'd have thought the station's a good a meet point as any. You name a time and I'll be there. But from my perspective the earlier the better - for two reasons: 1 - more time 2 - last train back south leaves at 22:00
  5. Right, in that case, let's go ahead with Plan A then... and we can then arrange the Mexican evening for next year As far as the curry night is concerned, bearing in mind it's during the immediate run up to Xmas do we need to check on availability and get somewhere booked pronto like?
  6. Welcome to LEF, Jacob. Have a read through some of the other threads in this section and you'll find loads of useful info. for potential owners. And, as others have already suggested, check out LotusEspritWorld and EspritFactFile
  7. Clarkson's piece in The Times
  8. Nice one Adrian... a whole page too
  9. Clicky (post #12 on) Assume you've already studied the Esprit Lightbulb Upgrade topic over on LEW?
  10. As it happens, although I love curry I'm also quite partial to Mexican food and, erm, Thai, Chinese, Italian, French, Greek etc... damn it I just love food! So if the majority favour a change of plan* that's just fine with with me. * But we'd then need to rename the event
  11. Agree with various comments re Red Setters. We had one at home many years ago and as lovely as she was she was also incredibly highly strung, bordering on being completely nuts. I'd not have another. Much as we'd love a dog both Penny and I work full time so it's really a non-starter. We've always had cats though and have recently re-homed a pair of tabby kittens that are proving to be vastly amusing But if we were to have a dog it would almost certainly be a Labrador. Been brought up with them and they really are lovely animals. Can be prone to hip problems as they get older and can also have a voracious appetite for table/chair legs when young. That aside I'd say they're pretty much the perfect family dog.
  12. It may simply be a loose connection at the back of the speedo head. But before you even attempt removing the binnacle I'd suggest you firstly check the speedo cable to gearbox connection. If that proves okay move on to the binnacle. For this you'll find Paul C's guide to be invaluable - clicky. It can be done single-handed but it's much easier with an extra pair of hands, particularly during the re-installation. Incidentally, when it comes to speedo/cable fault finding a variable speed electric drill is incredibly useful. I hope, for your sake, the cable proves not to be at fault as they're certainly not cheap. Sources - usual suspects such as SJ Sportscars, PNM etc. If the speedo head itself is the culprit (as is quite often the case) you can have it repaired/overhauled by JDO Instruments for around
  13. Off topic... just one more post Tony
  14. Not gonna taunt me about how good the burgers were then?
  15. Well, I do hope you chaps had a lovely time and remembered to drink a toast to absent friends The Timeshare Esprit made it safely back home on the back of a flatbed recovery vehicle and has now taken to its sickbed moaning inconsolably about lost clutch fluid and a (suspected) poorly clutch cylinder Big thanks to Kimbers for driving back from Nick's Diner to come to our aid and to Bibs for his invaluable 'how to best recover an Esprit' tips. Cheers chaps
  16. Bloody hell mate... just a wild guess here... you've not had the best of days?! Oh, and shouldn't there be a after the L word?
  17. Battery Comparison Test Previous LEF thread (I'll even let you merge your own thread )
  18. I'll also try and get something over to you but it probably won't be until next week.
  19. Righty dokey - see you at the Breckland then.
  20. You realise that if you do de-cat you'll have to refit it every year to get it through the MOT? At the risk of adding to your confusion have you considered a high flow sports cat?
  21. Richard, want to meet up at the Travelodge and then hoon crawl up the A140 to Diss and thence onto the B1077?
