  1. Very nice indeed, looks like a cracking example, welcome to TLF 🙂
  2. Thanks Mark, I’ll get this one added as not on the list 👍🏻 We have 41 cars now and 10 development vehicles.
  3. Okay, I’ll email them and see if I get a similar poor response.
  4. Pete, did you get a price for a sheet of it, seems they do 10 metre rolls so if good we could group buy?
  5. I have the head from 0423H on my 0182H engine so seems they do get donated at times. Mind I have engine 13977 as well where I should have 13525 so heavens knows what car died for that donation 😬
  6. No not a big fan of Lagoon blue really, it was white when I owned it for all those years so I’m leaning back to that colour (Sigh not another white S1….😂), mind I have always liked yellow (not the pastel shade it’s in now) so that remains on the table. I think it will be decided much later in fairness as can’t see me getting that far this year. I will get the GRP work done and mechanics completed though. Pretty sure I’m going to replace the loom as it has had several immobilisers, two alarms and a pager system fitted, being thatcham it’s meant sections of the original loom have been chopped out. (I was guilty of getting one system fitted and the removable steering wheel as owned when car crime was at its peak along with joyriding….. the max power years 😁).
  7. I gave him a call when buying the car to discuss keeping it in turbo form or converting back to S1 spec. Steve agreed to make all the S1 body panels and the dash, the only thing he never had was the centre console, I managed to find a 1976 one in the end which was a bonus. I converted the turbo door panels which was a bit of work but happy now. I bought a pair of S1 seats a while back along with a set of 1976 dated wheels in readiness so pretty much good to go. I even found an original mirror. Thankfully it retained the original clocks as that would have been a headache too many 😬
  8. Yes Fabian, it required a bit of fettling but was a life saver compared to turning the turbo one into a S1 variant.
  9. I was looking at this stuff the other day as a possible option. Its 3mm thick though so may be a little to heavy weight to shape. https://www.matsdirect.co.uk/suretred-diamond-pattern-rubber-matting-md596
  10. This was my project over my Christmas leave period, an awful lot of work cleaning up all the panels and dry fitting so everything fitted correctly. No more turbo interior! 😁 Quite a bit of GRP work had to be done to get things right, the centre console needed loads to get the classic radio area rebuilt. It’s with the trimmers now thankfully so I’m not tripping over it all, I can feel the spare room becoming it’s home for sometime when done.
  11. This is an interesting article from 1977 about the movie so probably quite accurate. It states two cars were loaned to production which is what I was told a while back.
  12. Nice motor Ollie, welcome 👍🏻
  13. It has marker lights so I thought it may have been a converted import?
  14. If I remember I’ll do you some photos of the various types as I have several variations in the garage. 👍🏻
  15. Checked the rest of the box today and all pretty much as good as it can be, the input shaft was toast but I already bought one in readiness. I inspected all the teeth and couldn’t find any damage or wear anywhere, no sludge or fine shards on the magnetic plugs so pretty much good to go. The splines are well worn, fitting the new one in the primary shaft makes so a difference as nice and snug now. One of the selector seals was split so pleased I opened it all up now, also the bell housing input tube seals were flat so clearly not replaced when last opened. Still lots to do on the motor but it’s coming together nicely now, I had the original starter rebuilt by a specialist having a complete rewind done. Going to use a 123 distributor and lightened flywheel. I have a 4 branch exhaust which I’m going to volcanic wrap. The 907 oil pump has an uprated annulus set installed and I will be running fuel injection. Debating vernier pulleys as well to fully set it up. The water pump has been rebuilt by SJ’s. I know it’s not for the purists but it’s my car and it’s gone through so many changes over the years it’s never going to be a concourse lagoon blue original again. Besides I’m enjoying having a play with it building how I want it. I will fully rebuild the 907 engine straight after and store in case I ever decide to take the more original S1 format. Dave
  16. Steve I have moved the Excel on to another lotus enthusiast who is going to convert it to manual with a new power plant. I did get a cross drilled crank machined up ready for the 907 which is now surplus as he didn’t need it. I’m going to rebuild my 907 now and store it so will no doubt do a few mods to pep it up, green dots are a good option 👍🏻.
  17. Thanks for sharing, it looks nice, don’t suppose he remembers the chassis number? Looks like quite an early one with the single slat support louvred panel, can’t quite make out if it’s on comps but looks like it on the front. Its not showing on the DVLA site so we may have it under a different number. Dave
  18. Been slow as I was working on the house prior to Xmas but had a few weeks of tinkering in the garage. I opened the gearbox to do an inspection and all signs are looking very positive so far with the crown wheel being as new. The history shows the box having a rebuild in 2006 with little miles since I’m hoping the rest is as good when opened. It had a new synchro as well. The bearings all look good and oil had no sludge or debris. Hopefully it’s going to just be a reseal with fresh oil saving a ton of cash on a full rebuild and gives peace of mind. The engine is nearly done even if not for the purists 😉
  19. I have UVF464X which was Chapmans car. Also UVF466X and UVF469Xwhich is now copper fire but was red originally converted from LHD.
  20. Don’t they look fantastic in those vibrant colours, so much character compared to modern ugly euro boxes. I lived in the wrong era, I would loved to have been in my twenties/thirties back then enjoying these delights. God save the classics from the eco electric boom! 😁
  21. The SE in black looks superb, definitely one of the best colour combos Rambo 👍🏻 Such great cars, mine from over the years 🙂
  22. Maybe but again there’s no proof of sale as we don’t know the car….😁
  23. Absolutely true as they all look the same. Roger Becker is said to have acknowledged 187G was the right car in the write up but again not sure if this is factual. Roger said he knew the identity of the car in the Addiction for life DVD and would take that to his grave saying there can only be one bond car.
  24. James Strickland from Georgia who owns 104G and the S1 boat. He’s a right lotus bond fan. 👍
  25. Not sure, I have reached out to the auction winner to discus so will see what comes back. With fees he paid £116k for it as I understand. The Bo’ness car does look the part and I will visit next time I’m in Faslane. Proving which car it is will be hard with lotus acknowledgment, records aren’t great for the period with any development cars not recorded now. Dealing with Andy Graham over the Elan initial builds and dry sump registers this was very apparent. It makes sense to be an early car possibly a Kett Hall one as had the very early lotus decal on the nose. The recent salvage hunters episode stated 105G was Chapmans esprit although I’m yet to see a photo of him in a white S1. From what I understand he favoured driving a Range Rover day to day. Dave
