Your the man for a strange issue on an SE. Starts and idles fine at between 750 and 1,000 RPM. Try increase revs gets to about 1750 and starts to hunt then missfire. Tried Esprit Scan and no faults recorder. It did have TPS issue which we replaced, set at correct values. But still the same. HELP.

Found the bugger at last. Bloody flywheel sensor. I thought it HAD to be something near where I had been working. o back tracked and pulled the sensor plug and had another look at ti and thought to myself, one wire's not as far in as the other. Small screwdriver and pushed it further into the plug, tried starter and throttle and away she went. It must have been getting just enough volts to start, but not enough to accept load.
Thanks for your help bud, much appreciated your suggestions.
TLF must be the best forum for assistance in all things Lotus, and more.
Happy bunny now, I can get the bloody thing off my ramp and get back to LotusRescue serious work. My S3 turbo restoration.
Thanks again

Had a guy check the crank sensor with an ammeter and and an oscilloscope and he said the the values were ok. The wires were pulled out of the plug accidentally when the gearbox was removed the second time, but no nipped wire or damage seen and were put back in the checked for V values. I was told that if it were damaged the car would turn over, but not start and it starts off the button almost 1st turn of the key

Thanks for the reply. No, not an acquisition. I've had the car from another owner for a while sorting out massive clutch issues (long story, miss matched pars etc) anyhow, complete the clutch job and take it for a short test drive. I managed a full 100 yards and this started. No signs of previous coil pack change out and current owner says only thing changed in last couple of years was an injector as it was leaking at the seal. I have no local cars where I can swap out a part to test. Biggest issue is I hate electronics and have to rely on others to help out. I have a set of Gunson test plugs I can fit to the coil packs which would show spark, but my question would be. Could it be coil failure when trying to increase load and would that show up on the test leads. They are the clear type you plug in between the plug and lead or coil and lead in this case.
Assistance greatly appreciated. I need this car out of my garage and back to her owner.
John.

Map readings all fine. Elephants trunk, fine. had another fault code came up which was wheel speed sensor so jacked the car up and turned the wheel and it was show on scan as working and up to 7 MPH with me spinning the wheel. Also read that if car was stationary to discount error code. When you work the throttle the V values are correct from idle position all the way to full throttle with the ignition on but engine not running. Voltage readings on all injectors ae correct and in line with the manual. I have been scratching my head on this for 2 days now. Covered the injectors in WD to see if any blow back from a leaking seal. all ok, fired some brake cleaner round them and the inlet manifold to see if she picked up on RPM, still the same. Put small amount of petrol down the intake to see if increased fuel made any difference, no change. I don't have a pressure gauge I could fit to check fuel pressure, so I added a second HP fuel pump inline after the filter so it piggy backed her own pumps and gave sufficient fuel pressure, no change. coils checked and ok, leads same and plugs. The plugs were very slightly sooty but only just.

Hi John and Wendy. It was nice to meet you both at Caistor Hall last weekend. Hope you got back up to Scotland okay.
Nick & Karen Bassett.

Hi Nick, it was indeed a pleasure. We eventually got home just after midnight following more hickups with the M100, it eventually went home via the AA , we used our membership to get it home as the owners didn't have it covered, and we took the owners back to Edinburgh. So all in all, LotusRescue had a busy weekend. Repaired three broken cars, repatriated one couple. Not too bad for having a weekend off.
Lets just hope it's not another 10 years for the next one.
Regards to Karen.

Started sorting the garage and found the steering column with the ignition switch. its practically unused. I got it new from Paul Matty some years ago. Its from an 1984 narrow body Excel (interior dash as per Elite/Eclat). Do you still require it?

Morning Bud. Just to let you know I didnt get that S3 n/a yesterday. Went to finalise the deal and he jacked the price up by 3k as he said he nw had others interested so I just siad well keep it, a deals a deal and walked away. Hpwever, I did get the little barn find I discovered. 1971 M100 turbo, 47k genuine miles on the clock with documents to prove so a busy day yesterday and got her home last night. Once again, now the work begins. Rear brakes all seized up with sitting with the handbrake on for so long. The sad part was the lady I bought her off, her husband is a well trained mechanic and just ignored it, along with several other issues I think. Hence the split in the relationship and the car for sale.

nice to the tune of 600 pounds. Spent 500 on all new brake parts last night mind you, but well worth it. Half an hour with the pressure washer got rid of 7 years of accumulated dust and bird shit and came up a treat. Couple of hours now with the big polisher and she will look fine, even the interior with the Grey and Yellow strip on the leather still looks good, even the electrics still all work. The tires all still have the little nobles on them as they were just fitted the day beore she went off the road. result me thinks. Going to do the brakes and bang her down to my mates garage for an MOT and see what she fails on then take it from there.

Hi Bibs - interested in one of the indoor car covers for an Evora. Do you have any pictures of a black one with red piping and the red Lotus emblem, or a red one with black piping and black lotus emblem. Sure you get the gist given my car! Thanks Andy. I might start a thread getting people to post up their car covers as would be good future reference. OK?

Hi Dav, glad to hear you got back to work on her. Unfortunatly, I had a massive clearout in my storage but a local Lotus guy bought it all off me and possibly will be selling it as he is setting up in business doing Lotus spares. look for fueltheburn on TLF. His name is Keiran and he is easy to deal with. Just tell him I said you have to get a good deal or I will kick his ass.

Hi bud, can you check and see that my renewal was paid ok as I keep getting messages supposedly from Paypal saying payment failed on today's date, 14/04.16 but I am sure it was renewed a couple of months back s suspect a scam.
-
John,
I noticed in a much earlier conversations, you had Lotus Éclat trim available at one time. Is this still the case?
Thanks
-
Hi John, Sorry, no as I just sold it last week to a fellow Lotus fan who is starting up in business supplying Lotus parts. You can contact Keiran vie Fueltheburn on TLF. If no luck get back to me. I am currently in Kazakhstan but may be able to contact him via home. I can also be contacted on jwl344@aol.com as I cant always get the forum in this godforsaken country. Something to do with media blackouts and ISIS/Syria.
John.
