  1. Pistonheads is the best place to sell a sports car, every time I've put one of my cars up for sale on there it's sold within about 5 days.

I went over to Fort Worth and got mine on an all inclusive two week holiday for about £1500 in the early 80's came back did a few hours to convert my FAA to CAA but didn't bother keeping it up.
  3. The forecast is good Trevor almost tempted to bring a soft top but it is a Lotus gathering.
  4. I need to give the Esprit a run as I haven't used it since buying the Porsche so I'll be there as the weather is going to be nice.
  5. A fair point Kimbers, and I'd like to think I'm blessed with an open mind when it comes to trying out cars to possibly purchase and I put all pre-concieved ideas out of my head and just drive a selection of likely candidates. This is straying far too off topic and at times it's getting a bit like I might as well talk to the hand if I'm honest. As an owner of both Lotus and Porsche I enjoy each for it's own merits and they are both very nice cars it's just with my getting the Esprit refurbished we come across things which are frustrating and would seem to make me say why did they do that, anyway I intend to have my late V8 up together and one of the best examples around and just hope I can find a person who loves Esprit's to buy it when finished then I'll probably buy a Turbo S
  6. Wow that's dedication! I wouldn't reallycall it devotion to Porsche but respect for the standard of the product they put out the factory door may go some way of describing my feelings at this moment in time.
  7. You may have also forgotten as well as production, performance and reliability
  8. A good point and the guy who now looks after my Esprit (one of the best rotary engine builders in the country) tells me the Esprit is better built than the Nobles he looks after.
  9. At first I thought it read as a critisism of Porsche but re-reading it I did jump to a wrong conclusion. I still hold my opinion about the quality though.
  10. As someone who has just bought a Boxster over an Elise or Exige as a trackday come general blast around car I can assure you there are a lot of people with Porsche's that would strongly disagree with your comments. The quality of everything on the Boxster makes my V8 quite frankly look like being one nano hair above a kit car. Bearing in mind I have had a Lotus in one form or another since 1974 and love the cars the build quality and component quality of the Porsche is something I really wish my Esprit had.
  11. Well yesterday at the local Pistonheads meeting there was a white S3 turned up from London way and rather nice looking Elise so they are about.
  12. That's annoying, I've been toying with the idea of a full polybush and suspension refurb for my V8 for some time now. I was very tempted to buy the whole package from PNM and may well decide to do that in the future. If anyone wants to replace the front discs of an AP braked car I have just bought some from PNM at a very reasonable price and they look exactly the same as the drilled AP's
  13. Slightly off topic but relavent to all local Lotus owners the remnants of the Club Lotus anoraks meet at the Kings Head in Wickham Square this Monday evening and the first Monday of every month so any Lotus owners are welcome to come along it's a good pub too!
  14. He is quite obviously an out of touch stupid old fart
  15. I'm working up at the Castle Donington track at the moment but haven't seen any Esprits. But I'll keep an eye out.
  16. You feel old when I first started riding bikes 250cc was the limit and when I did my test the examiner was on foot and jumped out in front of you, well not quite but I don't think I saw him apart from that one time. You could also once you had passed your test buy any capacity bike you liked. (the good old days eh! clear roads no speed cameras and you could fill your bike up for a quid)
  17. Must admit to giving up riding bikes since a lady in a big SUV who was paying attention to her kids in the back had me off the road, fortunately me and my 1957 Moto Morini Tressette Sprint weren't too damaged, up till then I'd had a Vincent Comet (or half a Vincent as it was called) a CB 72 Honda and a Harley that I used to race down the drag strip. I still have a Montesa Cota that I used to ride for my local trials club a very very long time ago. I think anyone who is prepared to ride a bike on todays roads is a brave person far too many idiots driving cars nowadays, if it was compulsory for every car driver to ride a bike for a year the roads would be a far safer place altogether. Forgot also had an XT600
  18. I agree, it would seem that you have to pay more attention when using it because far too many times I've allowed the wrong word to go off. I don't use text speak either so all my texts are in long hand so to speak
  19. At the time of sending the reply on my phone I didn't have my reading glasses and was up inside a roof structure so there were a few things that could have contributed to the spelling error
  20. Just to correct my post it's Castle Donington (bloody predictive text) or perhaps not
  21. We are at Castle Doington doing the Exhibition Centre It looks a darker red
  22. Just been watching this around the track this morning, god dammit I'm spending most of my time here watching cars going round the track must try and do some work
