  1. Bummed. 1992 SE is looking for improved xmission - what happened to the 6 speed that was around years ago? Was it also improved for torque as well or just 6 gears?
  2. Jacques, Answering your question is perhaps not so easy, but in my case, after the complete engine rebuild from bare block up, using an unidentifiable Turbo Charger, and Welch Eng. Injector set and S4s +3% Fuel ECU Chip, head porting (not 100% sure that this was accomplished by Mr. Jamie Goffaux as he lied about other tasks billed to me such as a Welch Turbo Charger), Alunox headers, K&N Air Filter, 107 Cam pulleys and some form of an upgraded cam shaft - not sure what it really is). From a standing start and normal clutch operation, going through 1st gear happens faster than I can even get set to shift into 2nd gear now, and 2nd gear lasts about 2.5 seconds or less and 3rd is then needed or engine shuts off. Understand that new tires are on the car so no wheel spin nor is the clutch "popped", just normal engagement to start off. I am even starting to think I am running out of fueling in 2nd and will need a bigger pump, a MAF meter and Wide band O2 sensor to keep track of what is going on. Rolling road is hoping to be tried out over the next two months to see. Keep in mind I only get to drive it once a week or two as it sits indoors in my Delaware house's garage whilst i sit here in Maryland getting this house emptied out... If I am not careful, engine over revs in 1st and 2nd very easily now. Scary, but very exciting - like my old Honda V65 Magna, almost. Certainly a lot of this is due to the Alunox headers. As you know, next modification is a 3.5" exhaust to get even less back pressure on the Turbo. This may be my undoing though as I am not sure I could then even use the throttle fully in 1st or 2nd without incurring near misses to things on the side of the road. I did once blow of the Blow Off valve from its fitting due to pressures from the new turbo. Now, it is cemented in place, If I could get the front brakes to stop pulling to the left now. lol. As to spool up times, there is none, NONE, for me now that I can feel and there was quite a bit (1 to 2 Seconds) on the original engine before rebuild. FYI, the AEM boost gauge shows ~1.25 Bar at full throttle in 1st and 2nd and 3rd until I am going too fast and have to slow down so I can not get figures in full 3rd or 4th or 5th. Runs like a scalded ape, so-to-speak. I can not speak highly enough about the Alunox header as a major contributor to this result. I don't need no stinking V8 though I do wish I had the front bumper treatment of the S4/S4s/V8. Anyone got a 6 Speed transmission for sale? Cheers to all.
  3. Hello Jacques! Still looking for a shop that will do the job but will not put dents into the pipes at the bends... lol.
  4. Do not know as he has not been on the news lately. Hoping he was nicked by one of his true believers but doubt luck is with us on that one. Oh, forgot, Baltimore City, 28 miles north had 195 killed this year, no idea about the survivor count - they refuse to publish that data. My feeling is that the day we stopped the Military Draft, is the day stupid took the reigns here, but i could be wrong.
  5. "Mental Health programs" would only touch those AFTER they popped their cork. And we don't have any mental health care here anymore, anyway. Whom among us has not had an episode, or more, where a gun at hand might have had dire consequences? The loaded weapon being easily at hand is key to killings here. Virginia, Texas and more allow guns in bars, for a start. IN BARS! PUBS for those swilling that brown stuff that actually tastes like real beer. Being retired Army and having seen way more than I will ever share, there is no hope for the US and its gun death rate per capita. >300 million weapons here is a completely lost cause. Background checks may save a handful of lives but it is truly simply pissing up a rope. We seemingly are unable due to our incredibly pitifully poor education system (and penal system that worries more about pot and coke than maiming and death due to bullies with rounds in the chamber) to note the word "militia" in our ridiculously outdated 2nd Amendment to our Constitution as a qualifier to ownership. Most of the owners I know have taken their single shot AR's and AK's et al and made them fully auto. A simple task. .50 Cal's (an extremely distinctive sound) go off in the woods near my next home in Delaware. These rounds can go 5 phucking miles (>8km for you EU types) and still take apart most anything it hits! Am I scared, you bet, as it travels way faster than its report. When they start taking out Senators, Governors, National Guard Troops etc. things may take a turn, but then again, probably not, Oz's solution is impossible here. Today, we have a bunch of nut bags facing off the Federal Government at a Federal Preserve in Oregon daring an armed confrontation... ISIL is no more a threat here than being struck by a car, however men with little dicks, beer bellies and loaded AR15's on their backs or magnums in their belts on our streets are far more a concern to me. One only has to watch almost any of our body/automobile camera documented cop shows or reality TV sessions such as North Woods or Alaska Troopers to visualize our fantastically exceptional population that seems to have the compulsion for weapons to understand why we will continue to kill or maim 100,000+ every year, forever. Washington, D.C. 5 miles from my current abode has had around 165 murders this past year alone, and something like 2000 maimed. Our nation's Capitol city, 6 square miles of shite. When 30+% of your population fails to graduate from even high school, you get what you pay for. And then many are backing Trump for President! You readers get the picture of the US yet? $2/gal of petrol is nice but there are other prices to be paid for living here.
  6. Agree with the link's summations. Hopefully they will not rot out while being held in storage in my garage while waiting for me to use up the tread on the currently mounted tires. That is why I have not had them mounted on the Saturns as yet to see what is needed to get them on the SE.
  7. Hi Dave! Very cool to understand more about this mod. Had a water heater burst in my basement last week so took a bit of time to come back with my reply to your great information. I suppose machining the wheels themselves would be the best bet then? Seems certainly cheaper. Nice to know bolts are the same as well. Only bought the Saturns because I could no longer locate matching tires for the stock wheels anywhere in the world any longer and my gut tells me the front and rear treading should match, no? Cheers for now. MikieP
  8. Count me in at the 450gbp 20 group buy price if it can be reached. Car running now.... lol.
  9. The amp is not a 1200 watt amp when using your 4 Ohm speakers. It will only provide 100 watts watts R.M.S. per ch x 4 channels, and perhaps 200 watts peak per ch using the 4 Ohm speakers unless using bridging. Keep that in mind if driving it hard... Depending upon how loud your coach's interior is will determine how many watts are needed to overcome the background noise. If you hear any distortion products, cut it back lest you roast 'em.
  10. When and if the day comes that I actually wear out the Toyo tires on my factory stock 15 front and 16 rear wheels and then go to the 17 and 18 Saturn wheels, will I need to find different bolts? I do understand that the front holes need to be reamed out to fit. Thanks guys. MikieP
  11. Perhaps one other cause is that we do not graduate everyone from simple High School here. i.e. something like 67% of our students graduate. That number will vary -D.C. perhaps 55%, Baltimore something like 60%. We are talking HIGH SCHOOL here, not university. Makes for a lot of cowboys. NOTE: My numbers may be off by 5% since I have stopped listening and reading about our abysmal education system and parenting failures. What is the point in knowing more?
  12. FYI here in the states, when I reg'd mine last month in my soon to be new resident state of Delaware, they valued it, a 1993 SE, at only $17K, thankfully as I had to pay 3.5% to the new state.
  13. Sounds like mine as well. Two thoughts though. Could the CC not be functioning correctly - thinking a quick 1st and almost as speedy 2nd might not force the CC into hotter climates, but a prolonged 3rd and 4th would certainly be more noticeably lacking? Rusty stuff from petrol tanks sometimes clog things up and in my case seems to be my current nemesis though I have not yet checked with Freescan or Espritmon's data to see what they have to say. Also, would not the vacuum hose to the Turbo cause over-boost if it was leaking?
  14. We stopped being a Democracy the instant private money was allowed to fund political races many years ago. 87% of the country wants out of the gun mess, more or less, and that only goes so far against the probable billions spent keeping the 2nd Amendment alive and well. And, since many here are not capable of reading very well, they come up with their preferred version of it: "Guns, A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." And, courts have now started following the nuts' needs rather than the dead folks needs. I had a much higher opinion of our country when I was 26 and a CPT in the Army doing nasty things with CBR and Special Weapons than I do now at the age of 70.
  15. Now that the Russians are putting jets in the air over Syria and bombing our maybe allies against Assad, it's only a matter of time before collisions and confrontations. What now? Think this might overshadow both the refugee and the VW fiasco sooner than later? Will shite ever end?
  16. Test? By whom? These are ALL VW self-certified cars. We believed what VW certified in their results. Yes, a mistake that we should trust people where money and profits are concerned. Their own engineers (VW) that devised the cheat? Our emissions testers here (US) that were not able to talk to the car's on-board code to see what was happening while the car sat in the test lane and reset the engine parameters on the fly? The sole fault for the fraud lies with VW, and only VW. Yes, our EPA is slow but thorough. Sort of like the EU support of the fleeing millions from death going on now. Reports here say the CEO admitted he knew of the code manipulations, so did he? If so, jail is his only future as well as for all that took part that can not prove they were forcibly required to not report the fraud. It is pretty simple IMHO but it never works out that way. Destruction of the cars after a buy back would be good for the Group as well. Anyways, we have our own total pieces of shite here, look up Martin Shkreli. Derek, All reported here so far all the 500K diesels I think.
  17. What about all the tons of released particulates and other gasses now out there due to this fiasco that should not be? No one has seen fit to address that here (US) in our news as yet other than the ~18B penalty that might not ever become reality. And the current owners get to continue driving these pig diesels anyway spewing 40x what is allowed? VW should have to buy them back at MSRP and get them off our roads.
  18. Lol! PO ran all the wiring through the tunnel I think. Not really sure where all the stuff goes but it does reappear at rear of the Tuner's jacks! I did add the Sirius tuner and a 5 cdrom library into the front bonnet where the spare tire would normally sit and a MP3 plug along side the passenger foot well too. it just works and I numbered all amp connections so when the trunk flooring needs to be removed, all the wires hopefully come back to the correct connections. The amps are tied directly to the battery next to it and switched by the head. I am going to leave them there so I can still be able to drill the hole to unlock the trunk when the cable snaps.
  19. Ian, Not sure but think I got the first issued manifold after Mark got his. Alunox message sent just now. Most comments suggest its use if heavier turbo installed though weight support is not its purpose so thoroughly confused on why it was even provided. Apparently most original issues broke so there is some purpose for it... Much thanks, Ian and Jacques. Off to bed for now.
  20. Mine looks nothing like this at all. I paid 80GBP and got what I showed in my pic and no one can figure out how it goes on so back on only one like the initial push from Alunox. Guess I need to query ALunox yet again.
  21. These were the parts (blots and nuts not shown) supplied to me by Alunox after the first broken bracket was reported. There was one bracket and two of the turnbuckle things, one of which is again now somewhere in the car. Latest shop could not figure out where the rest of these parts went... Any ideas?
  22. This was done by the PO in my car. I have replaced speakers in the dash and rear bulkhead since purchasing car though. Smaller amp is for the Sub-woofer which is placed inside a box and then located in the passenger's foot well. Carpet and an additional board were laid over these amps so trunk space lost was about two inched in depth. Very nicely done INMO.
  23. Just for my own info, should I try to buy one for future failure?
