  1. Indeed. That light over the engine cover is just magic, IMO. This is the write-up in case anyone is interested: http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/01/guerrilla-mist-evora-effect/
  2. Not sure this has been posted here before. The perfect wallpaper picture for my laptop.
  3. You are definitely very lucky to have that sort of professional environment in the insurance / repair world in the UK! Fingers crossed for everything to end up as it should.
  4. Probably unfeasible due to lack of financial partner but IMO it would help to boost sales in the short term if they extended the 50:50 UK offers to other countries in Europe. Just like they did with the 333 recent offer or the SR itself which is only available in UK & Europe....
  5. So, now try to watch post 4522 and listen to post 4534 at the same time... If you survived, you must have found the magic referred to in post 4525... @ Bibs; I think you can send this to the Tate Modern or to the MOMA...
  6. I think it is more reader friendly now.
  7. As an alluded Evora owner... For reference, mine was tested in its previous life in Italy. It was 2.5 horses down on BHP... But 16 Nm up on torque... http://www.autoblog.it/galleria/lotus-evora-s-autoblog/83
  8. I attach links to some additional press coverage, to feed the discussion: http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/industry/why-latest-lotus-survival-plan-makes-sense-me http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/lotus/88742/exclusive-new-lotus-ceo-talks-suvs-esprit-and-the-future And a quote from Salvador Dalí, the Spanish painter: "Lo importante es que hablen de ti, aunque sea bien" (The important thing is that they speak about you, even if they say good things)
  9. Well, he is just true to the Lotus Ethos. "Add lightness!" (and aerodynamic efficiency)
  10. Hot off the press! (it reads pretty similar to the previous article on The Telegraph, though) http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=30888 @ Bibs: You may prefer to move it into a new thread, as suggested by TBD.
  11. Agree on that but it is also true that Lotus cannot ignore this kind of segment and be stuck in internal combustion only. At some point it is probable that we will all have to move on... for the good and for the bad. The article about the i8 surprised me because there seems to be people paying almost a 50% premium to get one... Are those simply posers trying to get into London?
  12. Speaking of BMW's i range... it looks like there is indeed a lot of potential in the hybrid-range extender sports car segment http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufacturers/bmw/11116660/BMW-i8-price-shock.html And this would avod the PDK / IPS discussion... Can Lotus explore (ie. afford) this kind of investment, though?
  13. Mine is also a MY 12 with door pins. It was registered in January 12, so that probably proves Willi's theory. Funny enough mine also has the leather gear-knob and not the round silver one of later cars... And I agree on the front splitter, too.
  14. I'd rather keep him here... We need his insight, ubiquity and IT skills :-) (Congratulations on the 10th anniversary, too)
  15. I know positively that you are right, but it would be nice to see Lotus in a position to do such a thing (a 3 series contender). Day-dreaming, a Lotus-Toyota Avensis or whatever they are called now (à la Carlton) would also be fine with me. More seriously, I think the point I am trying to make is that we (as converted fellows) should not scare them to death from moving out of their comfort zone. Useable cars should be ok, if Lotus decides to go that way (as long as they respect as much as possible their DNA).
  16. Toyota decided last year not to launch a convertible version of the GT86, apparently. IMO it is bizarre that Toyota has no MR-2 currently... Maybe the new Mx-5ish Lotus could be badged as an MR-2 to optimise development costs (as long as both cars can coexist). Or probably just kill the whole idea. Not sure about it Anyway, if they asked me, my fingers are crossed for Mark's front engined, 2+2 Elan / Excel "sedan". I need to replace my 3 series soon and I would drive a Lotus rather than a BMW or Jaguar... I am probably alone but I think I would even accept the risk of being one of those beta-test people Don was refering to... My level of faith is becoming almost religious...
  17. I tend to agree. SUV is not the only way forward. Everyone says now that the Cayenne is the miracoulous stone, but a few years back it was the Boxster that ®evolved the brand's image and brought a lot of new clients to Porsche. The boxster was Porsche's move into Mx-5'ish territory... And before that, the 924 (yes, it is a Porsche if a Cayenne is) was introduced because Mazda had been extremely succesful with the Mk1 Rx-7... ...which was an affordable, "simple" sports-car, copied from Lotus... I understand there are bigger margins upmarket but you first need to get the attention and desirability. It won't happen otherwise.
  18. I am speechless. I just hope it is not a coffee (beer) break of the engineers developing hybrid power-plants... It looks like that is going to finish vEEry badly.
  19. Giorgio, You can have a look at this one.... It has apparently been converted to LHD, and a lot of things have been done to it... http://www.club-lotus.fr/annonce/exige-mk1/details Good luck, Jorge
  20. Nice interview, indeed. This year I did a lap of the Nordschleife with him. I was driving my own car with him by my side. He was giving me input on turning points, gears, etc. His way of giving feedback was extremely good (including loud voice and fingers open indicating what gear I should use into each corner and where to look at coming our of the bends). He even prevented me from turning the steering wheel at some point as I was doing a "too early" entry... At my level, it was quite eye-opening for me in terms of progress in my driving skills. Definitively worth it. @ Jonny: I just missed his entry into the " Lotus in & out" competition. Something for next time. Keep the good ideas coming, please.
  21. Just saw this... Nice starting point to have Lotus more present in what is (IMO) a very good site for car nuts. Their videos are very good. I hope they will also publish "Lotus videos" at some point... http://www.petrolicious.com/a-lotus-road-trip-is-an-old-english-car-thing
  22. Hi, Is it possible to know more about where exactly in the Netherlands this will take place? Thanks in advance
  23. Some French media released it already, I think. Maybe they thought it was at 5:00 Central European Time. :-)
  24. Many thanks! Will try to register there.
