  1. Apologies for the slow response… I don’t think my input will help you much either! 😬 Up until 2015 my Esprit was used as a competitive race car and the engine was modified accordingly. The previous owners fitted a sizeable dry sump system (in place of the drivers side fuel cell) to negate any issues relating to loss of oil whilst cornering. I bought the Esprit as a race car and just maintain it in its current form (with the help of a budget friendly engineer!). I am not really mechanically minded, just a driver, so can’t really add anything useful…. sorry 🙂
  2. Hi Tocus I like the idea of attending…. particularly if there will be a group heading out from the UK. When there is some more information about the event then I’ll make a decision 🙂👍
  3. Hello Fridge I took a chance and asked a local engineer to apply heat and force to remove the old pin and drive gear; Which in his words was “incredibly easy” and cost me 5 whole pounds! I then rebuilt the distributor myself using a oil seal from SJ, new pin and drive parts from Distributor Doctor, a cap from Aldon (I think) and rotor arm from Powerspark (Simonbbc). You probably don’t need to use so many suppliers! I was chatting to all of them and felt I should buy something 🙂 It was definitely simpler than I thought it would be… I did ask the same engineer to check I had put it back together properly. All worked together fine and I didn’t break anything else in the process! There was a bit of oil seepage early on but it settled down and still works nearly 3 years later.. with a new rotor and cap 🙂
  4. It was to see you all. I hope there were no noise complaints from the venue this time. Thanks to the gentleman who has the Lotus Cortina for taking the time to tell me about his car 😎👍 Which of you brought the GT40? I was hoping to get to chat with you and take a look at/listen to your car… Didn't see you with it until I was leaving ☹️
  5. Hi all I have booked to go to the Ragley Hall Classic show (15th May). They are running a decibel challenge and I think my Esprit is a decent contender... I knew there would be a use for the noise somewhere! I'll make efforts to (quietly) attend a breakfast meet soon.
  6. Hi JT Welcome to the group. I am in Chesham. Better at breaking than fixing but willing to lend a hand 🙂 Happy to go out for drives or meet ups 👍
  7. 🙂👍 awesome thanks for sending an update. If you are happy to stay in contact then it would be great to follow your progress and see it finished/on track. Catch you in 2022!!
  8. Hi Paul,
    I have an Esprit S2.
The clutch need to be replace.
Can you recommend a mechanic who can take on this job.
    Thanking you in advance
    Kam

  9. Thanks for a great welcome to my first LotusForums meet 🙂 an excellent sunday morning meet up. I enjoyed sharing the drive in with you, and especially the drive back with thebartman 👍 I hope I didn’t embarrass the club with the over enthusiastic exit.. slightly overdid the accelerator (handbrake was still on a little 🤯)
  10. 🙂 It would be stupid of me to miss a convoy for the sake of neighbourly love! See you at Tesco 07:45 thebartman - I’ll look out for you enroute 👍
