You have to make meaningful changes to airflow to get the best from an esprit. This was explained at great depth by someone with far more knowledge than me. Start at changing the exhaust flow and then work on the intake. There are plenty of horses to be freed up.

So todays findings. boost issues are noticeably different depending on where the heating control knob is located. Also gentle throttle application results in nice boost while flooring it quickly and it’s not so nice. weve ordered a load of replacement piping and will replace it all. I’ll also download elanscan as the CEL came on when we took it down to the storage barn. the throttle cable has some play in it - maybe too much - but I need to get that scanner on the car. new roof seals arrived this afternoon as well 🥳

I get no CEL lighting up. A Quick Look over it and the one pipe from the boost control frequency valve is slightly loose and can be pulled off by hand. The one to the boost gauge transducer is breaking down and is all powdery

So Danny’s Elan has a hesitation on boost - like there’s an air leak. I have the workshop manual but seem to be missing section EMK. Mainly I’m looking for the diagrams of what’s what and what’s where. Theres one pipe from what looks like a solenoid upto a two port piece on the airbox that I can pull off by hand - so I’m gonna get some more clips and pipe later today. Im not in anyway familiar with the Elans setup and would just like some pointers with regards to this.

I would suggest sadly the Chinese stuff will be amazing. It would not surprise me at all if the long term plan is to allow the uk manufacturing to fall on its own sword. They sure seem to be doing an incredible job of that and the guy at the top needs a firm kick in the plums as all of his promises so far have been worth feck all

All the while the courts in the uk let sex offenders, thieves and the general scum of the earth that should be treated to a course of Logan’s run walk away with little more than a sit on the naughty step for 5 minutes. they are very harsh sentences when balanced against the rest

I’ve seen a few Emiras in the flesh now - absolutely beautiful things and all with scabby tops of doors. we were promised this wouldn’t be the case with paint and build quality from Lotus - but they have epically failed customers.

@C8RKH all of my kids have VW cars - the reason is simple - I have friends whom are firemen and ambulance staff. When they go to VW cars in RTAs folks are more often than not walking wounded. Other brands they are more likely cutting them out with serious and often life changing injuries. The NCAP ratings are just so much better on Polos than anything comparable. The 3cylinder engines do like to burn a bit of oil though.
