  1. I am going to be a real pedant here and ask why, just why, would you want all that extra technology for camera mirrors when good old fashioned mirrors have been a well proven, cheap, and reliable "go to" for well over a hundred years? Isn't this now just getting a bit silly? I looked at a Lexus the other day, and it had screens, about the size of an average smart phone these days, one at either end of the dash for the "mirrors". It had some stupid looking stalks outside of the car. Just absolutely pointless, in my very humble opinion. See below, and I'd love to know "why" this is becoming a fad.
  2. @Kimbers, that place in the picture. Hell yes. I would happily see out my days somewhere like that. If the wife didn't want to join me, then she'd be welcome to come and visit. When we were in South Africa (Western Cape) last month, we looked at this place - to buy for our retirement. It's half the price of our house in Scotland and a 5 minute walk to the beach. We almost put the offer in there and then. We're going again next February for a holiday and to house hunt. I'd move tomorrow but have an elderly mother I couldn't just leave, so timing is not right. The kids are both on their own journeys, have bought their own houses. At some point you, as parents, need to realise that they need to be left to live their own lives, you cannot do it for them.
  3. And I thought it was just the British that were bonkers, but it seems you Belgians literally take the biscuit!
  4. Ah, but I have a long memory and some on here where telling us that in the future the batteries WOULD be recyclable, and that once done in cars they'd also be used as storage in big battery farms. Delusional? Far sighted? Inspired?
  5. God? Yes. The lunatics whirring about in the asylum. No.
  6. Yes, it's funny how equality does not seem to be factored into family courts, or indeed the courts in general, when women are the perps.
  7. One of the biggest problems Justin was that literally no-one, outside of the Lotus clique, really new the car existed and what it was - a damn fine GT/Sports car. That was squarely down to Lotus to be honest. Then there were the multiple road tests were the Evora was pitched against very well prepped Porsche cars, where the attention to detail and prep from Lotus just wasn't there - resulting in, poor marketing and awareness. I'm not saying it was all Lotus' fault, but by christ, they had a hand on the spoon and were stirring the pot of failure with it. It all started so well too with it winning car of the year at launch etc, but when MJK left it all seemed to go to pot. In fact. all credit to the hard workers at Lotus who did such a great job to get the car out there, but the men right at the top just didn't seem to get it. IIRC, the Sports Racer when it came out was about £52k, I think the Hethel Edition 400's were around £55k. They were bloody bargains compared to the competition fro Stuttgart, but the brand cachet was not there - again, I lay the blame for that at the top. I don't want any of this post to be read by anyone who works at Lotus, or worked for Lotus, to be read as a pop at anyone, but the most senior Execs.
  8. Well blow me, I clicked on his profile and it said Southampton. That was some super sleuthing for sure.
  9. You're right. I'd rather watch a good film these days.
  10. @Veloce_Rosso you really do need to stop over thinking this, and start to drink the Kool-Aid. Noble people. Pure people. They buy the Tesla because they want to save the planet. They want to put money into Saint Elon's pockets so he can invent flame throwers that shoot out flames over 20 feet. They want to put money in the Saints pocket so he can build rocket ships to blast off to Mars, spewing their flames and gases not just all over the planet but in space too. They want to put the money in Elon's pockets so he can fly anywhere he wants, at any time he wants, with whomever he wants, in one of his gasoline fuelled fangly spangly aeroplanes. Oh the irony of the Teslaites. I'm off to buy a Model 3 so I can be baptised into the Tesla Church of the good and pure. Or...... maybe not. To avoid claims of biased advertising, I should point out that EVs not from Tesla are also available, and you don't need to drink the Kool-Aid or get baptised to buy one of those alternatives. I wonder, do Teslarites have a special handshake? They do seem to have a "special" grin. Oh and given the times we are in, and how sensitive some can be, for the avoidance of doubt, this post is satirical!
  11. I think quite a few on here will be wishing me an early night!

    Lotus Emira I4

It's all about the drivers @Denno
  13. Your spanner bracelet and 1970's overcoat will make you look just the part @Sparky You'll be spotted by Watford TV productions and your own drama series "Life on Bushey" will be a hit. @Kimbers can be your sidekick, the naive copper from the turnip fields of Norfolk. The crims will have Norfolk'n chance.
  14. Has anyone taken the air vents off (the flaps and the silver rings part)? If so, how did you do it? Thanks
  15. I believe it is a statistical fact that more people die from something they contract when in hospital, to what they originally went into hospital, for. Unless you absolutely have no choice, best to stay away.

  17. And a significant portion of the reason, or blame, for that, lies with Lotus itself. I do not see the point in replacing my Sport 410 with an Emira. Would I own an Emira alongside my Sport 410? Yes. But the Emira would have to be my daily driver, the Sport 410 would then come out at weekends when I wanted to feel, and be, "special".
  18. Absolutely (contrary to what some might think this is NOT all anti-EV rhetoric), the "tech" to enable started to be added around 2016 I believe - apparently any car with the "SOS" button (usually on the roof panel for the reading lights etc) as standard has the ability to be geofenced in the future (there is a sim card added) as the tech is largely all from one company, used by all the car manufacturers. The issue that people (Politicians) have only now cottoned on to, because their "thickness" often knows no bounds, is the suspicion that ALL Chinese cars (EV's or ICE or Hybrid) could be easily "hacked" through this tech. Think of a Denial of Service web attack, but only this time the denial of service is to cars, vans, buses, lorries! Frightening! But then this is not anti-Chinese either, all other cars are susceptible too, the thinking is that the Chinese out of all countries, would be the ones to do it. Obviously this is all theoretical and not accusing anyone of anything.
  19. What time do I need to be round tonight then?
  20. I stand corrected. Thanks @jaws. I thought all S had the 19/20 wheels as stock, maybe it was the SR that had?
  21. Piccies would be good @johnpwalsh
  22. I love fresh coriander. A nice mixed salad, some feta cheese, some fresh coriander, and a sprinkling of my own olive oil infused with chilli! Delish. Delightful. Wife hates the stuff, which probably explains why I love to smother it over lots of things that I love to eat, and she likes to pinch...
