  1. Any update on this yet please Bibs? Having watched Harry Metcalfe’s review of both sport and touring spec Emiras, he just confirms my own thoughts about the differences. I’m aware the Evora differences may not equate to what he experienced but I’m sure, from my own previous Evora drives, the touring spec will be a lot more compliant. Cheers 👍
  2. That looks like it should fix your issue. 👍 I wonder why mine don't do the same though? Ah well, probably better just to be grateful for small mercies.
  3. Just thought I’d round up this thread I started last month with a running report on the wireless adaptor recommended by @electro_boy https://cplay2air.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwjtOTBhAvEiwASG4bCCDZvuiDS2LUqOlRbF7sy3Rl9B_zo4vXJITiNUOL4rwC4Y_GkJNZ3BoC6KsQAvD_BwE I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and it’s great, doing everything I needed. I can just leave the iPhone in my pocket and the head unit automatically connects to it when I switch on. The unit is small enough to sit comfortably in the glovebox, connected to the USB plug that’s already in there. Brilliant bit of kit so thanks @electro_boy 👌
  4. My GT410 Sport, despite having an eyeball rattling ride quality over rough surfaces (as mentioned in another thread) doesn’t have the same problem as yours, so I would suggest it’s a bit of a cop out to say it’s a track car and there’s nothing you can do about it. Mine are the same brake callipers as yours so they clearly don’t all do it. Do you know if the problem goes away when you lightly touch the brakes in order to push the pads against the discs very slightly whilst driving over the rough surfaces? This should, at least, determine the truth of what the Lotus guy was saying. If it goes away when trying that, thus pointing to the brakes as the cause, how about contacting AP-Racing customer services to see if they can suggest a cure? If it were mine and AP can’t suggest a fix, I think I’d be inclined to swap out the pads and shims to see if that fixes it. Whilst that shouldn’t be necessary, at least it’s a relatively cheap thing to try first.
  5. I’m sure the older I get, the more I’m turning into James May. The last few years he’s been complaining about cars that have been developed by doing the fastest lap around the ‘Ring. Such cars will almost always have teeth jarring suspension that rattles the eyeballs on most British B roads. Lotus have always been known for pulling off the feat of making cars that handle remarkably well whilst having comfortable suspension. The original S1 Evora was highly praised for following that tradition so it can’t be that bad to stick with a softer setup.
  6. You’re a star Bibs. Much appreciated!👍 When I ordered the car I could have gone for the touring spec suspension but at the time I thought that would be a bit wussy! 🤦😁 I’m assuming ’Phil’s spec’ is probably the touring suspension that I could have had but not 100% sure of that. The standard GT410 Sport suspension does rattle your fillings somewhat.
  7. My, you’re very quick! 😁 That would be great if you could please Bibs. Many thanks. 👌
  8. Ok so maybe an odd topic here but I’m wondering what exactly constitutes a ‘Phil’s spec’ car in terms of suspension, compared to a standard GT410 Sport? I’ve come to the conclusion my car is just a little too harsh for my liking over many of the damaged road surfaces we have in the U.K. I was originally planning to track the car but after more than 3 years of ownership I haven’t yet done so, although I am doing a Bell & Colvill track day at Hethel in July. I very much doubt I will be doing many/any more and so the idea of more compliant suspension for normal road use is becoming more appealing. Obviously the dampers are rated differently but does anybody know if the spring rates are too and is the geometry setting different for the ‘softer’ version? I’m seriously considering changing my suspension and either keeping everything to put back on the car when it’s eventually sold or maybe even finding a buyer for the parts now. Does anybody have any idea about this please?
  9. This beauty was in Escape to the Country back in 2009. At the time I was area organiser of one of the Lotus 7 Club groups and received a call from the company who make the programme. The premise was the subject couple wanted a house with room for a paddock (for her horse hobby) and a large garage/workshop for him to build a Caterham 7. At the time, I’d sold my 7, having finally got fed up with them, and replaced it with this lovely Burnt Orange Elise SC which I managed to position in pride of place in front of camera!😁 It was an experience being involved in the filming, being on camera talking to the couple and seeing for myself just how much bullshit it involves. It’s a lot!😂
  10. That’s a neat solution. 👍 Presumably the frame around the head unit just unclips/pulls off to give access to the fixing screws?
  11. So what happens if nobody they contact wants the spec of the cancelled order? As it’s not due to enter it’s build slot until August, I find it hard to believe they can’t adjust the spec this far ahead! 🤷‍♂️
  12. I ordered a new E Class Merc a couple of weeks ago and delivery expected to be ‘sometime’ in 2023! They couldn’t be any more specific than that. 🤷‍♂️
  13. Now I do like that wireless adaptor which would allow me to leave the phone in my pocket. Can’t ever forget it then. 👍 I was a bit disappointed the upgraded head unit I went for in the Evora didn’t already have wireless connection for Apple CarPlay, so this gizmo would fix that. Thanks! 👍
  14. Were it not for the fact I am decidedly ancient and forgetful, this might be considered a reasonable idea. However, I would forget my phone is in the glovebox, probably only remembering some time later when I am a considerable distance from the car! Putting the phone on a bendy stick right in front of my face should/will give me a fighting chance of remembering to pick it up as I exit the car. I know this to be so since I already occasionally forget to pick it up off the passenger seat. 🤔😁
  15. When I’m out in the Evora, I normally place my iPhone on the passenger seat, plugged in to the USB port so I can use the Apple CarPlay. This is obviously no good if I have a passenger in the car, so has anybody come up with a clever phone mount that doesn’t require drilling or otherwise damaging the dash and trim? Also could do with it not impeding any of the switches or other controls etc. Anybody got any bright ideas and, if so, pics of their solution please?🤔
  16. I’ve read many posts on here from folk who say a delayed delivery is causing them a problem as they have other commitments. Can I just offer my services to collect your car for you whilst you’re away and I’ll even run it in for you! Can’t say fairer than that so just send me your details and I’ll pick it up for you. 😉 If it’s any consolation my son, who lives in the US, tried to order a new Audi Q8 last month and the dealer pretty much laughed out loud as he told him they’ll be lucky if they see any new deliveries before this time next year. I ordered a new E Class last month and won’t see that until next year either. 🤷‍♂️
  17. Southbound on M3 this afternoon. Drove past me in my 410 Evora.
  18. Nope, mine doesn’t need the handbrake on or the key in the ignition either.
  19. My gut feeling is he wouldn’t but then at the beginning of this thread before the war actually started, I said I thought he was simply sabre rattling, so what do I know??🤷‍♂️
  20. Yes, there was the refinery attack by 2 helicopters a couple of weeks ago which sparked indignant outrage by the Kremlin. If it wasn’t so tragic, the Kremlins attempts at playing the victim when Ukraine has made these very limited sorties into Russia would be laughable. “We can invade your land, attack you, commit murder and other atrocities destroy your towns and cities and carry out genocide, but how dare you attack us on our territory.” The whole thing is so very tragic and unnecessary. I’d like to think the Russian people will cry enough and start an insurrection but Putin has such a tight rein on the propaganda, I just can’t see that happening any time soon.
  21. She’s now working for a German news channel, reporting from Ukraine and, for now anyway, Russia! Can’t be long before the Kremlin spray some expensive ‘perfume’ on her door handle!
  22. Which again begs the question of just how good/effective are Russian defence systems. Ukraine has proven over and over during the last 7 weeks, often whilst using advanced weapons supplied by the west, that Russian armaments are maybe not as good as we’ve all been led to believe. This is very encouraging albeit, for now at least, Russia will still have strength in numbers, unfortunately. Ukraine has been far more effective with fewer numbers of personnel and equipment which must be pissing Putin right off. I do fear, however, he might be so pissed off he will actually use small tactical nukes or even chemical weapons. How the west then reacts under that scenario will maybe determine the final outcome of this war.
  23. I’ve been following the events in Ukraine very closely these past 6 weeks and, probably like most of us, feared Russia would overrun Ukraine in a matter of days. That they have not is, of course, down to the huge resilience and bravery of the Ukrainian people as much as the arms supplied by the west. I think what has really surprised most observers, however, is just how incompetent the Russian army has shown itself to be. When we read about their actions in capturing Chernobyl and immediately digging trenches in the Red Forest, the most radioactive open land on the planet, it just beggars belief. The one thing the Russian army has on its side is shear weight of numbers in terms of both men and equipment so Ukraine obviously still has a huge fight on its hands. I think, though, there is now a very strong belief that with sufficient support, they can actually push the Russian army back. Clearly since Russia has a nuclear arsenal I can see why NATO is reluctant to become directly engaged in the war but I’m sure the wests view of Russian land forces and their available equipment has changed by observing their poor performance. Moreover, we’ve seen reports that suggest over 60% of Russian missiles have failed to explode or have gone off course, where the expected battlefield norm is no more the 20%. When you then look at how well the NATO supplied armaments have performed, it must have increased confidence that Russia is not quite as invincible as they and everybody else believed. The one wild card in all this is, of course, Putin himself and the fear he just might do something unpredictable with devastating consequences for the entire world. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for Ukraine and, indeed, the rest of the world and supporting as best I can in my own small way.
  24. Good grief man, your father should disinherit you for such an admission!
