  1. I replaced a cracked one last month too. I think it cracked on my way to the garage to get some other work done as it was a clean crack and I hadn't noticed anything off with the handling, (except for a slight knocking sound as I pulled away from lights round the corner from the garage). I thought about doing the other side pre-emptively but now that I know what to look for I'm just keeping an eye on it for now.
  2. I've suspected for a while that my washer bottle is leaking so I chucked in a few litres and yes, it definitely is leaking.... all over the garage floor. Whipped out the locking wheel nut key to remove the front wheel and see if I can change/fix it myself (or at least figure out what needs to be replaced by a service centre) ... and the locking wheel nut key split at the first hint of pressure. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ The car was recently serviced so was presumably torqued up quite hard (or the key is 10 years old, so at the end of its life). Anyway, what was supposed to be a 10min job now involves stuck wheels and a chipped finish on my alloys. ๐Ÿ˜  I picked up a replacement key (matching the shape and letter) from eBay from a Renault but it doesn't fit my wheels - it is a 19mm key and the outer diameter is too wide. Before I hassle a dealer / service centre (which is an hour away), is there any recommended places for a cheap key? It is code R if anyone happens to have one languishing in a box!
  3. Another self indulgent post. Almost 300mi yesterday on the way to and from Glen Shiel - the Evora is absolutely perfect for these blasts around the Highlands.
  4. Orโ€ฆ Evora until the children are too big, at which point they probably wonโ€™t want to come out with you anyway, then switch to an Elise / Exige / Emira if you fancy a change!
  5. 7 and 9 year old boys here: they both go in the back without car seats and have done for the past year. One advantage of the bench vs the 997 "bucket seats" is that they can sit slightly more centrally and see out of the windscreen better. We used a basic booster once or twice but I now just put them in without it as they seem to be secure enough with the normal belts. The 9 year old is only a few cm short of the 135cm threshold at which point car seats are no longer required and the 7 year old isn't too far behind. DVLA guidance appears to allow children over 3 to not use a car seat if there is no room for a car seat and they use the adult belt, so I believe that this is both legally and practically fine. As above, I'd be looking for a basic booster or slim seat for the 3 year old and seeing if your 7 year old looks secure enough with just the belts. Enjoy!
  6. A quick snap from Glen Nevis as I walked away. ๐Ÿฅฐ
  7. Thanks @mik. That gives a starting point for playing around then. The suggested pressures in the Komo-tec table in that link (which are presumably warm pressures) seem quite a bit higher than I've been running previously (I think that I generally have cold pressures at around the same PSI as yours). Maybe I'm not pushing hard enough!
  8. I finally fitted some Michelin PS4S on the front recently so now have matching PS4S all round now on 19/20" wheels. What do people recommend as the warm PSI on PS4S on 19/20 wheels for road use? I'm more specifically interested in warm temps as I live in Scotland and so my shady garage is probably colder than those in the tropical south (and so the more relevant comparison is when I'm out on the road and up to temp). PS - I know I could RTFM (and I have), but it was written with Pirellis in mind so I'm curious what other people actually run.
  9. That's brilliant - thanks very much. I actually haven't had them done yet. I had left a message with one place at the start of last week and have not had a response yet so was going to chase up on Monday morning. I might just give Ecosse a shout instead. The longevity comments are very helpful. My frustration with the diamond cut re-finish (admittedly quite a different job) previously was that 2 years later, the refurbed wheel was the worst of them all again, as clearly it isn't as well sealed as the factory finish. Two new tyres and 4 new TPMS sensors have arrived this week though, so I was hoping to get all four wheels done soon ahead of taxing the car in March (SORN'd in Jan and Feb)
  10. I finally got around to ordering some new mats, but received the same version as the offending item I had before (which could trap the throttle pedal). Obviously I've only placed it roughly in place and not squeezed it in neatly in the photos, but you can see that there is a risk that the throttle could be caught down. As you can see, my tatty footrest needs replaced so if there was a suggestion that the box behind the pedals in my car is just the wrong shape or not fitted correctly, I could replace it or fix it (I haven't yet pulled the carpet cover off to investigate who it fits in). Is anyone actually getting these mats to work safely or do I need to keep looking for the short version? I don't think I've ever spent so much time looking at car mats. ๐Ÿ™„
  11. That would be excellent, thanks. I'm not in a huge rush as mine looks fine, I would just like it to be stuck in place a little better! If you could give me a shout when your carbon one arrives please, we can sort something out. ๐Ÿ˜€
  12. Thanks folks, that is all very helpful. Funnily enough it was the TWS I used in Edinburgh that managed not to tighten the security locking bolt. It was about 5 years ago but I can hold a grudge as the manager denied doing anything wrong! I now live an equal distance from Edinburgh or Glasgow so maybe I'll try Glasgow this time!
  13. Bit of a thread resurrection here. I'm still swithering about when and how to get my 19/20 gloss black wheels refinished. They have a few minor stone chip marks and would benefit from a smarten up. I thought about going silver (as I'm not a big fan of black wheels) but on the other hand I prefer to keep cars fairly original and the black wheels are part of the SR pack. Anyway, any recommendations for refurbishing based on your experience @mik? I've used a few places in Scotland in the past (for diamond cut repairs on another car). One of those places (a large nationwide name) didn't tighten the security bolt sufficiently and I only had 4 bolts on when I got home so I won't be going back there! Keen to use a decent place, particularly as presumably forged wheels need to be handled appropriately (lower temp finishing?) Any recommendations for sensibly priced TPMS sensors too, since I might as well change those at the same time?
  14. Looking for a cracked /damaged ventilation panel from an Evora. I have an uncracked panel but with a couple of broken tabs, so rather than replacing my otherwise perfectly good panel I'm tempted to try cutting the tabs off another panel and epoxying them on to mine. Colour is unimportant given that I only want the tabs.
  15. Since this thread has been bumped and I noticed someone refer to Gordon Murray's Elan above, here is a tenuously related pic. This was at the GMA 'stand' at the Goodwood Members' Meeting last year where GMA was showing the T.50 and T.33 alongside his collection of cars that inspired him, including the Elite and a Miura.
