  1. Just an FYI I'm told that this was ordered by the president of the Lotus Club in France and came from the factory with the wheels, sport 350 seats, spoiler, and the order shows a sport 350 ECU. Interesting build.
  2. Can anyone tell me if this VIN is an actual LHD Sport 350? I ask because while it looks like one some of the bits don't match the description I've read online. This is a European car and some of the docs refer to it as a "V8-GT". SCCDA08291HD10253
  3. That drone is super cool. Me want...
  4. I live in the land of tiny garages so I have these three at home. Have 3 more stored off-site...
  5. Some of you that are into Motorcycles are familiar with the Ace Cafe London. There's one in Orlando and they have bike or car shows 5 nights a week, every week. Took the Lotus to Euro Car Night and everyone lost their mind. Got a front row seat, they moved stuff to put it up front. Great crowd with lots of nice cars. Mostly BMWs with a few Audi, Mercedes, and Alfas...
  6. Thought you might like to see some pics from this past weekends 24 hour race. Enjoy! A few more. I also included a pic of the Garage 56 Chevy NASCAR that will run at Le Mans later this year...
  7. Digging though some old CDs found this pic of my old Exige at Road Atlanta back in 2003.
  8. Post office run. Don't want to be rear ended by that Penske truck!
  9. I always assumed that Chevrolet's decisions were based primarily on cost. When they launched the C7 I watched an in-depth discussion with the lead engineer regarding design/technical decisions covering every aspect of the car. I was blown away with the detailed thinking that went into the overall decision making process around all technical decisions with cost only being a small part of the decision. Regarding the engine I remember service costs mentioned but a lot of it was packaging and keeping the motor light, keeping the weight lower chassis, and keeping the height smaller to keep the hood line lower and the weight as low as possible. I walked away with a whole new level of respect for the corvette engineering team. ps. I also remember him saying they had 50 engineers just working on the exhaust!
  10. Wondering what these are for? Connected directly to the battery... Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays! Roy
  11. Thanks @Tocus and @Bazza 907. I just shot Mark a note.
  12. If anyone ever hears of a LHD Essex car for sale please let me know!
  13. Back in the 1980s I had a three piece set of covers from the factory for service. Two clipped on the sides when the rear boot was open and one layer where the spoiler is. They were unfinished fiberglass on the outside and foam on the side that touched the body. Are those available? If not what do you guys use to keep damage to a min when working on the Esprit? Here's a pic of one on the factory line. Thanks!
  14. @snowrx - Thanks! I'll go see if I can find it. Looking at your pic I think I saw it yesterday because I was surprised to see something with safety wire on it...
  15. Two problems I’m wrestling with: Engine Cover Fan - Does not come one. Don’t find a fuse so I assume it’s either the fan or the temp sensor? Looks like I should just jump the fan directly (purple and black wires) and if it comes on it’s the temp sensor? Radiator Fans - Mine work when you switch the AC on but do not come on when the car is hot. Any diagnostic advice? Thanks in advance! Roy
  16. Thanks everyone! @mike.griese - I cannot find any record of the carbs being removed, cleaned and rebuilt. I agree that's a good place to start. Thank you! The guys who worked on the car for the previous owner were Porsche guys. The guy who did the work I outlined above is a Ferrari guy. I spoke to him today and he confirmed that he did not rebuild them just did the items above. Roy
  17. Appears to come out of the pillar behind the door when I wash or blow dry (I use the blower to dry) the car... Seems like some kind of synthetic foam or insulation that is just giving up after 37 years?? Thanks in advance!
  18. I have an 85 Turbo (USA) all stock. It starts, runs and is drivable. After it warms up it's hard to get off the line, it's easier if I pull the choke when starting off in first and then push the choke back in once I'm going. It also stumbles at 2-3K a bit and I can hear some popping at idle and lower rpm. The car is not right and I've had multiple shops look and work on it. The latest service was in august and they did: Checked engine cam timing Set engine at TDC to check cam marks Check Distributor, make sure ignition advance is working Check and set ignition timing to factory spec Check and clean spark plugs Check carbs, clean fuel jets and drill out idle mixture screws Inspect fuel bows and clean Adjust fuel mixture and sync carbs at idle Check intake manifold gasket seals for vacuum leaks Check all vacuum lines for leaks Check fuel pressure Richen up fuel mixture and adjust ignition timing to get engine to pull clean revs The car has 3,600 miles and sat for many years before being brought back to life 5 years ago. It has never run right since then. The question is what is the list of things you would check to figure out what's wrong with the car? Thanks in advance! Roy ps. I do have an electronic ignition kit that is not installed if you think that would help. Obligatory engine pic...
  19. Thanks for the feedback! Don't know what oil is in the car but I'll replace is soon. Thanks for the suggestions on coolant temp as well. I'll check that out!
  20. So I finally got my 85 Turbo back and runs ok; but please let me know if this oil reading (at idle) and temp seem right. In my last 85, which I purchased new, the temp gauge rarely went past 90. I do live in Florida, it was 86F (30C) today, I was in line for gas, and the AC was on (fans work). Wondering if you guys thing this is ok? Thanks in advance! Roy
