  1. Courtesy of Neil's post earlier on, and with a need to take a few days off work before the end of March, but not wanting to fly away anywhere really, we stayed at the Hayloft for 5 nights last week. Here's what I wrote in the review and while we didn't take a Lotus, nor see Neil's Esprit safely tucked away from the wind and rain, I can vouch for its Lotus friendliness and close proximity to pretty much anything and everything you could want from a holiday home. And Goodwood isn't that far away so I wish we could have been able to defer for a couple of weeks so as to accommodate the Members' Meeting. Maybe next year... Joanne and Neill have created a beautiful home from home and a holiday haven with lovely views of fields heading down the water estuary. It’s peacefulness is most certainly part of the charm but it is also close to shops, pubs and other amenities in neighbouring towns. Not only that, but the South Downs, Goodwood and the historic places of Chichester and Arundel are but a short drive away. So much thought and care have gone into the design of the Hayloft and the fixtures and furnishings are second to none. We chose the Hayloft over a fly-away break as we didn’t want the hassle of an overseas trip preferring instead to maximise the time available for R&R. Even the daily March rain didn’t dent that for us. Thank you and we hope to see you again soon.
  2. 009 in happier times. The Best of British Car show in May this year, literally 2 weeks before disaster struck. On the way to the Newlands Corner monthly meet, as it happens (hit by a young driver 🙄). Good luck to the new owner in putting this unique Elan M100 back on the road and we've had conversations helping them with the history & stuff.
  3. Update - Bell & Colvill replaced my brake switch under warranty (with a part from stock) and in doing so found a fault with the factory fitted switch - P0571 Brake Switch A Circuit. I'm still investigating, or rather I hope Lotus are as I have reported the issue, the specific cause of the fault (online research suggests it's the CC circuit) and why it led to the throttle cutting out without warning. The OBD reader we used on our trip didn't detect any code - even immediately after a power loss episode - so if you've suffered this or a similar problem then probably a good idea to get your car checked over at its next workshop visit or simply fit a new switch.
  4. Yeah, pretty much but the other way around. Extend the plunger as far as it will go (but don't actually pull it out of the switch housing as I did - doh!) then push it all the way in and then - carefully - extend it out slowly one notch at a time. There's an audible 'click' per notch and 6 notches seems to be the adjustment for the Elise ie to work the brake lights as they should.
  5. Thanks. Not something we thought about doing, tbh, and also not something the dealer who I was in correspondence with mentioned - possibly for obvious reasons. I'm not sure how we would have coped driving the roads we did with the esp turned off, but it's a good suggestion for those who might not have as many intended miles to cover as we did. The sensor reset is a 5 mins procedure though and it worked for both cars and c.1000 more miles each. I'll be heading to my main dealer soon for a new sensor.
  6. Add 2 more cars to the list. Both 2021 Elise. Sporadic, unexpected throttle cut out whilst driving and on one occasion on a Spanish motorway with no hard shoulder! Occasional traction control warning light. Several engine restarts usually required to get the throttle response back. For however long it lasted (my own record was 7 cut outs in a single afternoon driving Portuguese twisties). On the advice of Yvo Tuk at Elise Shop we reset the brake sensor and all seemed well again. The issue didn't resurface for either of us anyway, but it blighted the first week of our driving holiday 😞
  7. I've not spotted that Elise at all There used to be a yellow elise s3 with (I think) black pack in and around Chislehurst, but I've not caught sight of him/her in a while. Hope I can make it!
  8. Not far from there, Dan, but closer to Chislehurst centre. Orange Elise. But I rent a garage so the car isn't kept at home.
  9. Sorry I missed the Cockpit meet too as I also live in Chislehurst. But I was actually away at the weekend so hopefully next time. On Firle Beacon at the end of July, if nobody minds my mentioning here, I'm organising a Lotus stand - 7 cars so for the Sunday. A few more would be ace. There's only a couple of us attending both days. It's not officially an LDC display as it's a new event and we're trying it out, so is open to all Lotus owners but to register you need to do so via the link on the LDC website: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/firle-beacon-registration-333824537177. Buying a ticket gets you a guest pass so effectively halving the cost if you bring someone with you. Alfaholic, will definitely seek you out for a natter during the weekend.
  10. Just an idle Q arising from this thread - I've not been yet to C&M, nor Classic Motor Hub - both of which opened (I think) after I moved down south, but is there nothing equivalent/similar in the SE...🤔
  11. That's '009' my partner's M100, which needed two visits to Rapid Mechanical Services on Friday before it was fit to make the journey (thanks Dave, Andy and Trevor for the help at such short notice). A beautiful shot taken of the two of them parked together on the track, made more so in that it doesnt show the masking tape holding the fuel filler flap in place (1 of the 2 problems which arose arose)! A day which vastly exceeded our expectations and so our big thanks too to Bibs, Lotus/Geely and everyone else who had a part to play in it. Special mention goes to the '70' gear sellers who battled through any tech issues to ensure we got what we wanted...to the extent they had stock left to flog anyway!
