  1. I too came from a 996 C2. The chocolate-engine stories eventually put me off it, but not before I'd put a second-hand set of Exe-TC 3-way-adjustable dampers on it, which many in the Porsche world considered the pinnacle of suspension available. My car was reviewed (twice) by the infamous CMoose in Pistonheads; he was staggered how good it was. Like you Nifty, I had had many German performance cars. Within a few hundred yards the Evora was just miles and miles ahead of them all. I actually feel sorry for all the Porsche nuts out there that haven't/won't try an Evora (or any other Lotus), because they are definitely missing out!
  2. All competition suspension is noisier than OEM dampers because they remove the bushings that keep metal bits from knocking to save weight. Nothing you can do about it, really, but I don't believe it's damaging. They also tend to have far less sealing of the shaft as well, meaning dirt and other contaminants get in. This is why they need servicing much more regularly, as stated in earlier posts. Basically, when it comes to (Lotus) road cars, sticking to the OEM road suspension is the best solution for 99% of us.
  3. I occasionally get it on the PS4s (when it's cold), but the Pirellis were horrendously worse (and not good in the wet).
  4. Very unlucky and unpleasant experience for you. The Ackerman is a feature of the Pirellis (which most of us gleefully replace with PS4/PS4S anyway). The engine problem is a weird one, but it's a Toyota 2GR-FE engine and generally super-reliable. Maybe try and ECU reset? On breakdown cover, you want the Green Flag Caravan cover; it's £100 for all cars/drivers and they got priority over all other breakdown companies. Good luck, keep the faith, you will be rewarded (I used to have a 996 Turbo as well and would never go back now).
  5. I concur with Jep. Put it this way, I used to have Exe-TC 3-way adjustables on a 911 - considered by most to be far and away the best you could have (£8000 retail, which is NOT what I paid, but they were not cheap) - and the Evora was way, way better than that! Don't forget that suspension tuning also involves the bushings as well.
  6. If you don't want to spend mega money, this sunscreen works absolutely fine: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077CZ9PYH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. Maybe some icing up/condensation while parked is causing issues?
  8. The compressor was also new! They're obviously a bit of a weak point (or maybe the slipping belt was just killing it time and again?) Glad you're enjoying it and driving it; it's a great car.
  9. That's a bummer, sorry to hear that. You know the condenser is all-new, right?
  10. Yes, was me. Car's driven all year and (almost) all weathers!
  11. Marks on bolts/nuts are so that you can see if it's rotated out of alignment.
  12. It's not a vital part, honestly. Just a bit of a PITA to fit afterwards.
  13. Totally; I hope they sell by the ship-load. However, it's not for me.
  14. My dealer says that Emiras are not temping (m)any Evora owners at all. Myself included; I don't actually like the front end and I certainly don't see the need for big screens/more weight.
  15. Why don't you just test-drive the other models and see what you think? No down-side that I can think of.
  16. Up-slope or orographic stratus.
  17. It does work. In fact you can get tyres with this stuff already in them now:
  18. Fair play on the soft-tops.
  19. Why not just drive it? That's the best way to see out the Winter months!
