  1. The SMMT figures for lotus' registered in the uk show that less cars were sold in 2020 compared to 2019. For years I have tracked the figures for lotus and some others. look at https://www.am-online.com/data/manufacturer-insight can see in 2019 they say there were 225 cars registered and in 2020 171 cars - that looks like a decrease to me... not surprising due to covid though.
  2. Nice colour, would be more at a lotus dealer, may be they are keen to sell it, as it makes their astons look expensive.
  3. Picked up the wife's new evoque this am, had to do the paperwork etc outside. They say parts/service will stay open by appt only,
  4. I do have a mobile or 2, but none are new enough to use the app. My main mobile is over 13 years old and it still makes phone calls....which is what I bought it for.. Don't pay a monthly fee either.
  5. I thought this normally applied to black Range Rovers with blacked out windows. Are picking up the wife's new car on Tuesday a RR evoque with the rear windows tinted...I want her to let me buy another lotus to play with.
  6. A few days ago had a letter from Howards Lotus Weston super mare, confirming the closing of their lotus dealership as of today 1/1/21 , and there has been some good pics of the cars they have sold over the years as a dealer on their facebook page. The main guy there - son of the CEO I think, had actually raced in the le mans 24 hour race in a Howards sponsored nissan., so had a genuine interest in the lotus brand and the way they drive and proper cars in general.
  7. I suppose if you do not like them..... then there is an option
  8. Are they that far behind in Norfolk then, I thought we were behind and out of the way in the south west
  9. cost a bit more to include an elise gt1 - one for sale at the mo......no price though.
  10. After the elite 501 left, the 4 excels and elite s2 and 2 eclat s2 were much better, from memory the RAC (home start) came to my house for an excel starter motor failure, and had my newest excel recovered only once when the PAS pipe blew apart.. So they never actually left me stranded, but one day I remember coming back from a business meeting and the temp gauge was rising, stopped had a look , put the heater on, drove on, the fuel gauge had also gone up - actual fault was a voltage regulator - so quite relieved. Although one of the eclat s2 needed a new piston. The other eclat s2 had an annoying problem with the bolt connecting the battery earth strap thru to the chassis, had to fix that every year or so.
  11. Back in 1981 I owned an elite 501 and reliability was not good, broke down on way back from dealer, again 2 days later, and then on boxing day clutch cable, one day had the gear lever come out in my hand, recovered twice by RAC for brake issues, repaired chassis, and eventually the gearbox failed - sold the car then. Otherwise a great car to own....
  12. We have lived west of exeter for almost 13 years and only had a few days where the roads were really difficult and 2 days when we stayed in due to some steep roads near us. my parents lived in dawlish (where the trains have difficulty with the sea), from 1986 and they have seen even less snow than exeter.
  13. one is for sale at the moment https://racingedge.com/paddock/cars/lotus-elise-gt1/ - no price quoted.
  14. My S was £555, the gt430 is £475
  15. You will have to be careful not to let the battery go totally flat as it may be a problem opening the boot - there are threads on here about getting into the car in such cases - there should be a cable boot release behind the drivers seat around the area of the rear seat. Should be in your owners manual. I suppose you will have some difficulty removing the battery to charge it up - as the boot would have to stay open while this was done and the car lives outside.
  16. May be the garage you got it from would agree to Paul Matty doing the work. After all PM would have experience of working on an evora. - and the labour cost is quite low. B&C have agreed to pay for a little job on my car to be done locally when the part becomes available from lotus.
  17. If the motor has failed, can't just that be changed, I know the motor failed on one of my excels and I just changed the motor and it was fine.
  18. My gt430 had a RH window regulator - just before i bought it. The part number fitted was C132B4052F at a cost of around £360. B&C also paid a VOR surcharge to get it quickly. Labour charge was £55.
  19. what about the images from auto express - are they close to what may be coming
  20. Are the other electrical things working, when my battery failed the dash lights did not come on when unlocking/opening the door. and it would not start.
  21. Anew battery is quite cheap even for these cars.
  22. I've heard that someone has ordered one and is down for the first UK spec car.
  23. There is a large one at a shady car dealer down the road, it has been there for several years, but it is well sheltered, I think if you had it in a windy area it would need to be well fixed down. I had a plastic small shed that blew itself to pieces years ago.
  24. Went out for a run today after fitting a spare wheel/tyre with the new sensor and the car picked it up automatically after a few miles - the original 3 were shown within a couple of hundred yards. . Have ordered another sensor to fit to the next wheel I have. The guys who fitted the sensor supplied a suitable stem and including fitting it was £10 cash.. (lotus stem cost over £30 + vat.
  25. I had my evora s for around a year and a half, i then got a newer more powerful one, which I will keep for longer. . In the past when I had 4 excels one after the other, i had them for around 1.5 to 2 years each, but had the last one for at least 10 years as I could not get a newer one! I would say that service history/condition is more important.
