The Alpine is an interesting choice but it got battered in this months Which? for reliability issues and failings. It does however, look like a bargain to the others.

Lotus Exeter had a customer who wanted to try Alpine vs Emira, so they arranged for the demo from Alpine Poole to come to Exeter, think that those who drove both much preferred the Emira for its feel and driving experience (may not be the price?). Also the guys at Poole did not want to stock an Emira for other customers to compare - in case they always preferred the Emira.

Useful info.  Do you mean Mick Gardner Racing, who helped Lotus with the GT430 suspension setup?

    https://www.mickgardnerracing.com

yes I got in touch with  them a couple of years ago about changing the ohlins to be adjustable electrically. But thought it was a bit expensive.

He also has a video of the electrical set up / installation on YT on the Evora they used to have.

Any idea what caused the rear springs to go?

No, don't do track days,  others like @mayevora know how fast I don't drive. SWLC don't know either but they have the same issue, both rear broken so they changed all 4  Did vaguely remember a bit of a thud on 2 occasions, but certainly don't think I had just hit any big bumps or anything.  SWLC sent me a couple of pics,  there is also some misting so will be going the refurb route, maybe at the end of the year as it takes a couple of weeks. @EGTE had his done by MGR a couple of months ago, removed and refitted by SWLC.

Don't think I have ever had a spring fail before....Car has done under 13k miles, owned it for about 3.5 years from around 7k miles

My first time on track with the GT430 and what a car!

So had you adjusted the Ohlin's from standard before going on track?

For this years service/MOT my GT430 has had 2 broken rear springs replaced, also the GT430 auto owned by SWLC had 2 broken springs.

Given the new "agency" model, the lack of a future should not be a surprise or shock.

Perhaps there should be a newer sales model - where the factory own and operate dealer sites - they would then learn a few things trying to manage on just Lotus sales, and dealing with Lotus head office.

Peugeot own and run quite a number of their branded sites dating and has done so since the 70's.

  8. On the Eletre FB group someone posted that Hethel was closing in 2 weeks - I assume he means the mini dealership there as it has gone off the dealership list on the Lotus website. If true then it would no longer be possible to pick your new car up from Scott at the factory?

Boeing whistleblower says plane parts had serious defects

would be reluctant to fly on a 737 Max, in case it still carried flaws that originated in the Wichita factory.

"I'd never met a lot of people who were scared of flying until I worked at Spirit," he said.

And then, being at Spirit, I met a lot of people who were afraid of flying - because they saw how they were building the fuselages."
