  1. I know much has been written on this subject over the years, so here is one more thread. When I got back from the NEC last weekend while putting the car away in the darl I caught the passenger side mirror with the fram of my car cover and snapped the internal turret. Last time I needed parts I got them from a European CX specialist, but checking their website ( cx-basics.de ) they only have complete mirrors. Still while looking I found a link on Pistonheads to a TVR specialist racetechdirect.co.uk who stocks mirror parts including the often broken turret at £24.95 + VAT. So 2 ordered, one as a spare, simples
  2. Put me down for a set of stainless brackets, my eye is drawn to them every time I open the tailgate
  3. Now thats a proper use for the dining room table
  4. Just want to add Gina's and my thanks for sorting Martyn, great location on site, and we had a great day once we got in (took 1hour). Our first TLF event in a while, and a cracker.
  5. I always wanted a proper layout when I was a kid but we never had the space, then several years ago I bought a Hornby 00 live steam Flying Scotsman, but did not have anywhere to run it, except outside, so I built a 00 gauge layout in the garden called the Stourvale Line after the area we live. Currently it's in a hiatus as a couple of years ago I built an office in the garden which meant taking up the track. I made the mistake of building at ground level, hoping to make the railway part of the garden with trains meandering through plants and shrubs but the reality is is too low down and gets waterlogged, and debris on the track, so the plan for the rebuild scheduled for later this year is to elevate the track on planters and a girder bridge at two levels. I'm still at the planning stage, but cant wait to get cracking. here are some pictures of the Stourvale line in it's glory days, and as we all love engineering the workings of the 00 live steam Flying Scotsman
  6. Oh just another thought, polish and wax are two different things, polish does exactly that it is very slightly abrasive and removes imperfections, then you wax to improve and protect the shine
  7. how and when are you crossing the pond? Nige and me are staying at the Hol Inn Express, Channel Tunnel on Wednesday night then getting the early shuttle on Thursday morning.
  8. Yep I used the original rod, the LR one does not come with one. Jacques, I might have a go at expanding the inlet and rethreading
  9. Here you go Buddsy, some long shots along with a close up of the Colin Chapman stickers I put on yesterday.
  10. hers one, most people will tell you that the clutch slave cylinder on a Renault gearbox car is the same as a Land Rover series II IIa, well it is in all but one aspect, the clutch line output, the LR one I bought was too small, however at only £10 it was cheap enough and gave up its insides to refrub my old one.
  11. I do some later after I have finished polishing
  12. If your not in the Swisswax price bracket can I recommend Auto Finesse, I bought one of their mid price waxes at £50 a pot and its great, and at that price you can afford to give it a couple of coats. They have a great range of products, and they all smell lovely
  13. After seeing Gary Hodges use early Esprit decals on his car I decided to do the same. Later Esprits lacked identity IMO, and hopefully this will cut down on the "what is it ?" questions
  14. Im coming to this in our Evora, just got to register, hotel and Euro tunnel booked
  15. Yep thats right I got rejected from the Bromyard Speed Festival too, can you believe it?? I then got a last minute email from the Restoration show organisers asking if I wanted to display the car. We did go to Bromyard and had a cracking day, I understand the V8 Esprit that was supposed to be running had issues so couldn't attend. Still good showing of track Lotus cars and a 400 Evora. On the subject of wheels, I love my Nova's and wouldn't change them for the world, not original but thought the 17's like you have on your S4 Barry look too small.

  20. Here is what I have ordered to coat the headlights with, G Techniq C2 Liquid Crystal, said to last up to 8 months.
  21. Ive done my peeling drivers side headlight this weekend, however I haven't recoated it, just stripped off the old coating using 250 grit paper, then using a 3m headlight restoration kit flatted it with progressively finer grades finishing with 3000 grade soft pad, then finally compound and polish. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the clearcoat just to protect the light from yellowing? If so, just keep them polished, and buff occasionally with compound. A friend also suggested a UV protective cream, which I'm going to try.
  22. Its amazing, almost everything else under the front wing looks like new. To compete on the world stage they need to sort stuff like this out, and I say that as a long term committed Lotus owner and fan.
  23. This weekend I took the offside headlight out to do the clear coat and guess what I found? Yep just some brown flakes where the mudflap bracket should have been. Michael, Ive emailed you my details as I need a set of your fantastic brackets please.
  24. Dave, did you manage to get them sprayed in the end and how did they turn out?
