  1. Im looking at this unit for my S. Was there any re-wiring needed for the head unit? Did the reverse camera need an adaptor?
  2. Probably only the engine wiring is Toyota. Not 100%, but other bits of electrical stuff are from all sorts of vehicles (wipers, windows etc) Not a lot of help sorry!
  3. Very nice! Have you just replaced the back box or the whole system? The upgrade bug is definitely biting.....I have to get new tyres first as the currant tyres seem to be the originals. This could get very expensive! Love watching Evora videos. Please keep making them.
  4. Hi Doug, It was me! Very exited also to see another Evora. I Did like the crackle from your exhaust! I am Norfolk based and am hoping to get out on some LDC runs in the future. Thanks for the photo!
  5. Yes it’s IPS. I am very pleased with it. It has its flaws but by all accounts it behaves well and allows eyes forwards at all times!! I’m still unsure of the cars limits, and it follows contours in the road like you wouldn’t believe. When you haven’t driven a car with such precision steering before it does focus one’s attention 😮
  6. Hi, I think I should offically say hello, as I can finally stop being a serial lurker! I have always loved Lotus cars and grew up an easy cycle ride from the factory. My friend and I were caught on a number of occasions by security peering through the then wooden fence on the tracks hairpin bend. That was back in the days of the Camel v12 F1 car. After a visit to Cringleford school fete from the Esprit with the skis on the back I was hooked. I had my dream car! Having a "toy" in my garage has always been an ambition, but life has always managed to halt that ambition. Until now!! I always wanted an Esprit but only having basic spanner skills I decided the newest Lotus I could afford would be the best idea. The Evora ticked all the boxes. I wanted a car to tour in and one that could fit luggage. As a lurker of all the Lotus forums I had done all the research possible on the Evora. Once the green light was given by my wonderfull wife, the hunt was on. Within two minutes I produced the advert from Hendeys of Exeter of a blue Evora S (sr). At this point I had never been in an Evora so a quick trip to the Lotus garage in Long Stratton fixed that. They had a 400 and an S, but one was to pricey the other not my colour. So ignoring any advice about test driving a few cars and never buying the first car you see, I bought the car from Exeter. It came a few weeks later on a transporter and now it was mine. It was November. The weather was awful. I waited and waited for a dry day to actually drive my first Lotus. OMG. There are moments in life that can't be described to others.....this was one of them. I was taken to a heavenly place. Its awesome. Im still an absolute novice at driving it, It scares me and makes me smile at the same time. Its the fastest car I have owned and in my world it is a super car. It is a masterpiece. And I have never driven a Porsche so nothing to compare it with! Long live Lotus! So Hello TLF and thanks for the years of reading!
  7. Hi Trev, I have become a new Lotus owner as of November. I had the same dilemma. I chose the IPS mainly because of clutch change costs. I hadn't even driven an Evora only sat in one. I bought the car from a dealer without ever seeing it or driving it!! I have had limited hours in the car due to weather, but I am madly in love with every thing about it. The IPS has two settings: standard auto and sport auto. In standard auto you can change gear using the paddles but it will reset to full auto after 30 seconds or so if no paddle is pressed. In sport auto it changes gear higher in the rev range and if you use the paddles it will then stay in flappy paddle mode. In sport it is amazing. The shifts are fast enough! As I have read else where you just get used to pulling the paddle once you see the first rev limiter light come on. On downshifts it blips the throttle, which sounds awesome and is very smile inducing. It can be frustrating with it deciding to kick down if you are slightly heavy footed in standard auto, because it changes gear quite early. In traffic it is great, no heavy clutch leg and having only two peddles gives you loads of space to stretch your left leg out. In my mind having the flappy paddles makes the car feel a bit more super car, but I am bias and having never driven one before it just feels right for the car. Mine is a sports racer and this car will never leave my possession!
  8. In my view there is a market for a "Quicker than formula one" race series. This lotus may not be it, but if they run a race series, it will outshine the defunked A1 GP series with out a doubt. It could be a good money maker for Lotus!
